World's First 4x4 Electric Car - Born in the USA
|   Wednesday, September 06, 2017
The young American company, Bollinger Motors, introduced to the world its first model called B1. The manufacturer’s product is the first fully electric 4x4 car, designed for both off-road and for ordinary roads.

The Bollinger Motors B1 is the first 100 percent electric 4x4 car that aims to remove 4x4 cars equipped with thermal motors.
The dimensions of this car are as follows: length - 3.810 mm, width - 1.943 mm, height - 1.867 mm. The total weight is equal to 1.
7 tons, the weight is distributed between the two axles in a ratio of 50:50. Both the weight of the cargo carried and the trailer shall not exceed 2,767 kilos.

“The B1 combines Bollinger Motors' advanced all-wheel-drive system with our all-electric powertrain to produce best-in-class horsepower, torque and ground clearance,” said CJ Winegar, Bollinger Motors engineer. “This vehicle signifies a huge leap above what is currently on the market. There's nothing like it out there.”
What’s interesting about it is the ground clearance. Standard, it measures 39 centimeters!

Being equipped with an adjustable air suspension, the ride height may increase even up to 50 cm! Or it can be reduced to 25.5 cm. The suspension can move up to 25 cm.

The rear seats together with a part of the roof can be detached and so the machine can be easily converted into a pick-up. In this case, the total volume of the luggage compartment will be 2,690 liters.

Under the hood lies an electric engine that produces 360 hp and 640 Nm of torque. It can be powered by a set of hidden batteries in the floor, which have a capacity of 60 kWh or 100 kWh. In the first case, the range from a single recharge is no more than 190 kilometers, and the second one - 320 kilometers.

Fully recharging batteries from a household outlet will require 7 and 12 hours respectively, but if this is done at special stations - 45 and 75 minutes respectively.
Acceleration from 0 to 96 km / h is done in 4.5 seconds and we notice that there is no bad figure. The maximum speed is 205 km / h.

“We are so thrilled to be able to finally take the wraps off of our Bollinger B1 sport utility truck (SUT),” declared Bollinger Motors' founder and CEO, Robert Bollinger. “This is the culmination of what has been a 40-year-long boyhood dream of mine and I couldn't be more pleased with the vehicle and the incredible team who worked so hard to create it.”

In 2018, Bollinger will begin processing orders for B1. Interested customers will have to pay an advance of 1,000 dollars. The first cars will reach them in February 2019.

Founded in 2014, Bollinger Motors is a US company based in New York State. They plan on revolutionizing truck and SUV design with the B1 - the world's first fully electric, on-and-off-road sport utility truck (SUT). From the looks of things, this medium-duty SUT is indeed truly innovative - designed from the ground up for an all-electric powertrain, all-aluminum chassis, interesting storage options, adjustable suspension, and even convertible cab panels.
