What to Look For When Choosing Motor Trade Insurance
|   Wednesday, June 26, 2013
If you run any type of business involving cars, whether this be repairing, selling, valeting or running an MOT testing centre, you have to by law be in possession of Motor Trade Insurance, or MTI for short. However, it can be a bit of a minefield if you aren't sure what to look for. So with this in mind, here are some pointers.

Choose a MTI Specific Company

There are many companies out there that will deal with all types of insurance, from home insurance to pet insurance and anything in between.
This is all well and good; however it's more likely that a company who deals with motor trade insurance on a daily basis, such as a broker or a direct insurer, will be far more inclined to offer you the exact coverage that you need at a price that suits.

Find a Company that Offer Flexible Policies

The best policies are always the ones that work for you and fit in with both your requirements and your budget. For this reason, if a company can offer you a tailor made or bespoke policy that takes into consideration all of the aspects below, for a reasonable price, then you'd be foolish not to take then up on their offer.

• Plant tools and fixed machinery
• Customer vehicles whilst on your premises
• Public and employers liability
• Coverage of all stock
• Demonstrations or vehicle road tests
• Coverage of all monies held both on or off the premises

Do your Research

Finding a cost effective form of MTI that fits all of your criteria isn't always straight forward. However, if you do some homework you can often come up with a great deal. Why not ask other similar businesses about the insurance company they use and, more importantly, who they would recommend? Alternatively, do a trawl through the internet on price comparison websites to see which is the best price for your options.

Talk to a Specialist Provider

If you simply don't have the time or the inclination to trawl through a multitude of insurance companies to find the perfect deal for you, then you might want to think about going through a specialist provider. The advantages of this are that they will obviously have much of the information at their fingertips, saving you time. However, the disadvantages might be that they don't always show every MTI deal and, in some cases, often only work with selected insurers.

Whatever you decide, by following these few simple pointers it's pretty likely that you'll find the perfect Motor Insurance Trade deal for you and your business, and one which you'll be happy with. You can find more information online at www.skyinsurance.co.uk/.
