VW needs a player in their line up to meet the goal of 1 million U.S. sales

It's a question on the mind of many people that how would the companies Volkswagen and Audi moves on to match up its most talked volume in the U.S which is of having a target to sell 1 million of cars till 2018. One of the keys is the largely growing crossover segments that are avoided by the two brands.

Moving towards it Volkswagen has already taken its step by starting two crossovers and is all set to start the third of it shortly, from the source.
On the other side, Audi will going to start its compact crossover the very next year and also planning to move its manufacturing of Q5 mid-sized car to Mexico where the car will be redesigned by 2016.

The Sedan from the long time have been creating attention in the market of Europe on the portfolio of the Audi and VW product. However, till the next years the company's main focus is to manufacture its car according to the customer's need of the U.S.

" It is very necessary for the VW and Audi crossovers to reach the goal that is planned with them in the market of U.S." said by the analyst, Jesse Toprak. " They must have some of the product for each and every category" he added.

The VW company is trying to touch a sale of 800,000 till 2018 as compared with the sale of 2012 which is 430,000. While the Audi company is trying to reach the sales of 200,000 till 2018 as compared with the sale of 135,000 in 2012.

"Today the company has a large number of nameplates in the market for our entire volume," told by the CEO of American Branch of Volkswagen Group Jonathan Browning. "However we don't have the sufficient strength in the key segments."

According to the source, the VW company is planning to launch a new seven-seated car in the market to give competition to the brands like Ford Explorer as well as the Honda Pilot. The car is assumed to reach into the market by 2014 and possibly its manufacturing will be at Chattanooga plant, which is currently producing Passat.

The Volkswagen Group however lefts far behind in comparison of its key rivals in the crossover category. As in the crossovers, the companies (Audi and VW) have just recorded a growth of around 7 percent in the month of August which is far less as compared with the average growth of the industry which is 18.7 percent.

Crossovers are identically significant for the Audi's plan. The unit in Maxico has a capacity of 150,000 vehicles per year which is far more than 27,000 to 28,000 units what Audi expects to sell by this year in Germany.
"Both Audi and VW are so much dedicated to reach on the high track as they want to do well in the crossover segments," told by Jeff Schuster (LMC Automotive Head).
