VW Launches e-Golf Facelift With 300 KM Increased Range
|   Monday, December 05, 2016
Along with the launch of the Golf 7 Facelift, the Germans from Volkswagen bring improvements for their electric version too. Perhaps the most important novelty on the e-Golf Facelift is that the range of the new model grows from 190 km to almost 300 kilometers in accordance with the European NEDC standard.

To increase the range, Volkswagen e-Golf comes with a greater capacity battery, 35.8 kWh compared to 24.5 kWh previously. If the range the German manufacturer announced will turn out to actually be a real thing the e-Golf will compete with some powerful rivals.
Besides the two models from Tesla (Tesla Model S and Model X), which have a range of 400 kilometers, the e-Golf will compete with the BMW i3, which announced some 300 kilometers, according to NEDC.

Other releases which announce spectacular range in 2017 are the Opel Ampera-e, with 400 km, or Hyundai Ioniq, with 200 km. In 2018 Tesla will launch the Model 3 with 350 km autonomy too. But let's return to the changes on the e-Golf, because the range is not the only thing that the model saw tweaked. The engine power has increased.

Therefore, customers who will buy the German model will have extra power, because it has risen from 110 to 136 horsepower, which means increasing from 86 kW to 100 kW, and has a torque of 290 Nm, some 20 Nm more than the previous model.

This fact is very important for those who want a better sprint than the previous version. The Volkswagen E-Golf Facelift accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 9.6 seconds and top speed is 150 km / hour. As you already know from the Golf model, from a visual point of view the model gets quite a few updates. However, we see the new e-Golf Facelift, like the GTE, benefits from the new headlights with complete LED technology. This feature was introduced both in the headlights area and behind, at the taillights level. In addition, the LED daytime headlights are new and the signage is dynamic.

Like its older brother, Passat, the new Golf 7 facelift receives a digital display instead of analog instruments. This is called Active Info Display, measures 12.3 inches, can display 3D maps, and it is an optional element.

In the center of the dashboard, the customers will find a standard 6.5-inch screen or an optional 9.2-incher. The latter is called Discover Pro and has dropped out buttons and comes with a vibrant touch sensor. It also has voice commands and gesture recognition. The applications which can be operated by gestures will be flagged accordingly and each successful gesture will be confirmed by a beep.

The new edition e-Golf will cost about 35,000 euros and will be released in April 2017.
The car will no longer be produced as before exclusively in Wolfsburg, but will be manufactured in Dresden, in the former Phaeton factory. This should produce about 35 cars a day, but this figure depends on the demand that the Germans will have. The factory is, however, able to produce up to 100 cars per day, so there will be no problem if clients are going to rush the showrooms.
