Volvo Vision Of The Future: Watch Movies And Talk To The Car Instead Of Driving
|   Wednesday, January 20, 2016
Officials from Volvo ensure that the future will not catch them unprepared. They developed a system through which the owner can talk to the car and are preparing an internet connection which will allow you to watch movies in autonomous vehicles.
It is no secret that autonomous cars will become reality in the next 10 years. With their proliferation, those behind the wheel will have more free time. Free time, in which they can relax or may get bored.

To avoid the second variant Volvo is even now preparing. Statistics say that demand for high-speed internet in the car will increase at the same time with the renunciation of driving. Which is why Volvo has teamed up with Ericsson to provide sufficient bandwidth for the connections required by those in the car.
Volvo and Ericsson will work together to provide a high quality online experience with no interruptions. Ericsson will share its experience in developing networks and cloud storage. Thus, Volvo will provide car passengers the media content adapted to the requirements and even the estimated duration of the trip. Image quality and flow of the transmission must be safeguarded by Ericsson.

The system developed by the two companies will be able to learn common routes and the time spent in the car to prepare a navigation system that is easy to use and a tailored media experience for daily commuting.

The partnership between the two companies was officially announced at the new technology fair at CES Las Vegas.
Volvo presented the results of its collaboration with Microsoft. The Swedes and Americans have joined hands to launch the first system that allows you to communicate with the car from the outside of the vehicle.

Communication with the vehicle can be seen in the legendary television show "Knight Rider" where David Hasselhoff talked to his car KITT som 33 years ago. Volvo together with Microsoft have brought this idea to a new level by launching a portable voice communication system! The owners of recent Volvo models such as Volvo XC90 or S90 will be able to communicate with the vehicle using the Microsoft Band 2 smart watch.
The Microsoft Band 2 gadget is a device type bracelet, which uses 11 sensors to monitor important functions of the body, and provides detailed statistics of hours in the gym or quality of sleep.

Due to cooperation with Volvo, Microsoft's bracelet can now be used to communicate with the car through the application Volvo on Call. The owners will be able to set navigation, turn the heat on, lock the doors, turn on the headlights and even sound the horn. The system is just at the beginning and will have wider opportunities in the future.

For example, with the improvement autonomous driving, you can call the car, for example, with the command "Come and get me," and the car will exit the parking lot and will be going to where you are and will open the door for its master.
The new technology developed with Microsoft will be available starting this spring in European countries where Volvo On-Call application works - that means the United States, Canada, China, Sweden, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Russia, Poland and Brazil.
