The future is here and Volvo advances to become the leader with their new experiment to develop computer controlled automated vehicle. Soon the project is about to be released for the world to experience. Volvo is expecting to lead the future marked with their latest innovation. Their main aim is to make the roads much accident and crash free. According to Stefan Jacoby CEO of Volvo Car corp. the youths who like to tweet or massage while driving will be mostly attracted towards this concept.

The technology allows a train of cars where all the vehicles will be following the leader while only the leader will be driven manually and the rest of the cars will follow it automatically, leaving them do whatever they want except driving. The latest endeavor of Volvo is the Safe Road Trains for the Environment project also known as SRTFRE project. The project is piloted by the Ricardo UK limited and also an alliance of Volvo Technology, Volvo Cars Corp, Spain's Idiada and Robotiker Tecnalia, Germany's Institut for Kraftfahrwesen Aachen and Sweden's SP Technical Research Institute handled the SRTFRE project.

The project boosts the idea of changing personal transportation by developing road trains called platoons. Volvo recently tested the concept by putting a manually driven truck on the road and four more cars following the truck. The leader vehicle was driven by a professional driver and the rest of the four vehicles followed it driven automatically. In the test the platoon achieved a velocity of 55 Mph and the gaps between each of them was not more than 13 foot. The drivers of the following vehicles can take control at any time they want to leave the platoon as well some can join the platoon too at any time.

Marcus Rothoff, the production attribute manager of Volvo thrilled to admit that their goal of this project is to lead the autonomous field of driving by running ahead of the pioneer techniques to reach out to the customers. Volvo also says they want the drivers to enjoy all the possibilities of multiple tasks they can do behind the driving wheel of their own car in case of public transportation.

Keeping an eye to the future Volvo says this might create a comfortable environment for public transport in case of travelling a long distance. They also hope the self-driven vehicle system will bring down the percentage of accidents in the Hi ways and also control less fuel consumption.

According to J.D. Power with respect to his survey fifty percent of drivers between age of eighteen and thirty seven would probably or may be definitely buy an automated self-driving vehicle. Volvo says that the choice of self-driving car is going to be popular within the teenagers because they are more interested in something more than driving, and with the self-driving cars they can use the time for that interest. They even think that in the future tomorrow's customers won't be considering buying a vehicle which does not have automated driving system.
