Volkswagen's Passat GTE revealed in 2014 Paris Auto Show

Volkswagen's Passat GTE has a tremendous hybrid concept and all its details are revealed now after its first show in Paris Auto Show 2014. This giant German model has a newly designed plug-in and many people are anxious to know about it more.

The electrifying took on its latest generation mid shaped staple taking on GTE moniker which was premiered in MK7 Golf during February. It features a power train having 160 KW/ 400 NM which boasts have claimed that it will use 2.
liter per 100 Km. in European NEDC cycle that implies 45g/km emissions.

This plug in is happened to be the first ever to be used for VW and it is getting installed in both wagon and sedan forms. Passat GTE has an exclusive electric range too of 50 Km, but in case of hybrid mode it tops out over 220 km/h. It has a 50 liter fuel tank, lithium ion battery of 9.9 KWH which makes the GTE to manage driving range even beyond 1000 km.

Its power train has 1.4 liter TSI VW group production producing 115Kw with 5000 RPM. It also has three phases permanently set magnet synchronously working electric motor in gearbox producing 85kw and gives maximum 160kw as combined output. Its maximum torque is mentioned to be 400 NM and the power is transferred to front wheel through its 6 speed DSG. Sprint is recorded to be 0-100 Km/h in only 8.0 seconds.

If the diesel and petrol engines of Passat GTE are compared then most highlighted factor is the blue grille followed by few other added features. A redesigned bumper is used at the front and different DRLs with 17 inched wheels are used there. It should be mentioned that the menu functions are completely newly designed in its cabin which feeds the information related to plug in to the car driver.

Like most EVs, the Passat GTE can also be started by you. You need to adjust the climate functions, check the vehicle information available remotely through an application called as e-Remote for CAR-NET.

Its battery can be charged in two different types via charging the socket in radiator grille. Standard charge cable is plugged into 230 volt electric socket which makes a dead battery to charge 100% within four and half hours. Alternatively, VW will advice an optional way which has a wall box that charges with power level at 3.6 KW and this method is capable of charging a dead battery to fully charge in only two and half hours.

After XL1, e-Golf, e-Up and Golf GTE, Passat GTE is next electrified road running model from VW. Company had believed before that they wanted to lead the World EV by 2020 and PHEV technology which means electric plug-in hybrid vehicle tech will be ideal until the batteries provide more efficiency.

The all new generation Passat GTE is up and ready to offer with both diesel and petrol fueled engine options and you can buy one of your choice after the first half of next year.
