Volkswagen to launch Polo GTI in 2015 without adjustable suspension
|   Thursday, December 11, 2014
Volkswagen has officially announced to launch its new Polo GTI during 2015. But as declared earlier, its adjustable suspension may not be available initially. VW, Australia's Communication General Manager Karl Gehling agreed to the fact that local division has planned not to offer any sport selectable suspension in this model during its second quarter launch in Australia.

As compared to previous version, this version will contain much more equipments.
But they have used only those items which are required in market for this vehicle. There are plans for releasing GTI having great standard equipments coming with optional packages. This is what they did with regular Polo and currently these options are enough as Gehling imagines.

For the first time, VW added an adjustable damper managed electronically to the fourth generation model Polo GTI. It will be available separately at the cost of 285 euro. There is an exclusive option offered with a kit for sport performance separately which enhances the sport nature of the model. Just one button impacts the steering wheel, sound actuator and throttle responsive system at a time.

After asking if this sport selecting switch will available to more sports models in future, Gehling replied there is always possibilities to add this option positively. VW always thinks that keeping all the options to the customers is really important. They can avail whatever they want if all the options are active.

But before creating any optional pack, it is important to investigate whether customers want such an addition or not. If there is enough demand, company will surely add it in near future. For the moment sports performance kits will remain disabled for Australian equipments list.

Company's local PR chief mentioned that German auto maker's decided to reintroduce manually maintained transmission to light performing hatchback based on buyers' feedbacks. Gehling backup up this decision and explained to the media regarding this matter that, this decision has been taken simply because of customers' demands.

Amongst all the models that VW has manufactured, performance variants are the biggest uptakes on manuals and after launching third gen Polo GTI, these were available only as DSGs. However, now there is option to use both of them and if the option is available, company will provide them if it is appropriate.

The option of switching to seven speeds DSG from five speeds manual second generation has been defended by Volkswagen. The outgoing of GTI was such a move that it proved to be very successful undoubtedly along with third generation GTI which has proved itself to be most successful till date. Still company expects DSGs to make more percent of sales of new model Polo GTI as per Gehling.

Gehling said that it is really interesting to measure how demanding the option is. However they expect clearly there should an additional option having a manual. This model will be powered with 141 kW per 320 Nm torque with six speeds manual trimmed turbo 1.8 liter four cylinder based petrol engine. The starting price of Polo GTI is expected to be about $1540.
