Volkswagen Tightlipped About Production Plans of the CrossBlue Concept
|   Friday, September 27, 2013
Insiders at Volkswagen claims that its CrossBlue Concept will not see the daylight of production anytime soon, as previously decided. Regardless of its public unveil this year, no one is willing to disclose production plans on this project even though the vehicle is a sire shot market success. Official word is yet to arrive although rumor has it that the company has not taken its stance on this project as of yet.

If this vehicle is brought into production, it is likely to be manufactured in two locations – Chattanooga, Tenn and Shanghai, China.
The primary reason behind this decision are the low manufacturing costs in these locations along with the tax deductions that Volkswagen enjoys in this part of the world. Demand for this vehicle is likely to be high in this region, hence manufacturing here would mean grabbing a chunk of the sales due to low cost and easy availability.

SUVs are quite popular in China at the moment and the CrossBlue should do well, if brought out of its concept stages. Volkswagen had originally conceptualized this car to sit between the Tiguan and the Touareg in the lineup. Therefore, Volkswagen needs to be careful while producing and placing the CrossBlue in a segment.

Volkswagen showcased this SUV for the first time at the Detroit Motor Show this year while it made a repeat appearance at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier last month. Despite initial suggestions, Volkswagen should ultimately bring this car to production as it is bound to be a showroom success owing to its unique characteristics. Volkswagen has designed a completely functional prototype of the CrossBlue. This car can be used for test drives as production versions of this vehicle will be based on this initial prototype.

The prototype is powered by a diesel hybrid power train, complete with a lithium ion battery pack. Power displacement is sufficient for a vehicle such as this while proper distribution ensures perfect drive dynamics and a comfortable ride quality. Experts have driven this vehicle around an airstrip north of Frankfurt earlier this month and the vehicle stood up to every test presented to it.

Traction and handling are at their best which distinguishes this vehicle from its competitors. Mid ranged SUVs are quite common nowadays and people are looking forward to some unique specifications which can change the monotony of the situation. Volkswagens' new clientele should involve Police Personnel and Federal Agents as the CrossBlue's profile matches that of the agencies. This four wheel drive vehicle is perfect for heading over asphalt although you need to think twice before heading off road.

Fancy interior work on the interior is class leading which as a result enhances ride quality and comfort. Volkswagen is German engineering at its best and this has been proved once again due to this vehicle. Sales in its target market are quite important at this time although this is not why Volkswagen is still tightlipped about its latest launch. We hope Volkswagen agrees to start large scale productions soon.
