Volkswagen Reveals Teaser Images of the 2015 Golf R
|   Sunday, August 25, 2013
Volkswagen has just begun its teaser campaign for the soon to be revealed 2015 Golf R. Although Volkswagen is yet to announce a specific launch date for the vehicle, the sudden plan to tease the vehicle gas sparked rumors that the launch date is approaching quickly. Experts have also hinted at a probable launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, although without official word coming in, it is just a rumor at the moment.

The string of teasers however does not reveal any details regarding the Golf R and as a result the specifications or the dynamics of the vehicle remain unsolved mysteries.
The latest version of the Golf to be unveiled prior to this vehicle was the MkVII Golf. This vehicle is also quite important at the moment as it is to be introduced to the American market fall 2014 as the 2015 version.

This as a result means that the latest Golf R could bear certain resemblances to the MkVII. The latest teasers include the images of the current generation model along with the MkVII and the Golf R, to create an appealing and mesmerizing effect on the viewers. Some of the major external modifications on the Golf R include the larger air intakes, quad exhaust pipes and 18 inch alloyed rims along with a sports body kit.

The biggest debate in the expert panel is the engine option chosen by the engineers at the Volkswagen Group. While most agree that the best decision would be to install the 2.0 liter four cylindered turbo charged engine, others believe that the engineers would want to install the less powerful version of the engine, used in prior models.
The Volkswagen Golf R is all about performance and a smaller engine will not be able to do justice to the car. The turbo charged version of the engine is powerful enough to displace 296 BHP although the older version would be displacing considerably lower figures. All wheel drive is present as standard on the car and this will be the only option available on the 2015 Volkswagen Golf R, at least for now.

All engine options are mated to a six speed automatic transmission system although Volkswagen is offering a seven speed manual optionally. However, details regarding the twin clutch DSG transmission system should be revealed during the official launch in September. The Golf R is based on the seventh generation Golf MkVII, it could have features which could inspire the eighth generation of the vehicle, although Volkswagen is yet to confirm such a probability.

The TSI 2.0 liter four-cylindered engine has been lifted off the Audi S3 although the other technical details are yet to be ascertained. As a result the Golf R is expected to feature a boost in power as compared to the previous generation models. Additional LED Daytime Running Lights have also been added to the Golf R which enhances the general look and feel of the car. Further details regarding the Golf R will be posted within the next few weeks.
