Volkswagen Plans on Launching Four Wheel Drive Polo R at Geneva
|   Monday, January 27, 2014
Volkswagen confirms next generation vehicles of their Polo R. This vehicle has been in the pipelines for quite some time now, although final affirmations were made after this year's World Rally Championship. Volkswagen has done quite a bit with their latest Polo R. Hence, we can expect better levels of luxury, performance and comfort. It is rumored to be a corporate vehicle, although it is a one of a kind corporate hatch back.

We expect a longer wheel base on this car, which was first showcased on the Audi A1.
Even though both vehicles share similar platforms and technology, they have certain unique characteristics, which separate them on the final front. Their latest S1 packs in every modern technology, while this vehicle is expected to be showcased in March, at the Geneva Motor Show. Volkswagen is all set to use this vehicle for all major rallies this year. Hence, we expect a larger drive train on this vehicle.

However, street legal variants are to be powered by a four cylindered 2.0 liter petrol engine, displacing 250 BHP, while all engine options are to be mated to a dual clutch six speed automated transmission system. Volkswagen has had major discussions and board meetings, before finalizing this vehicle and looks like it has paid off quite well.

It is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 6.0 seconds, while sporting a top speed of 155 MPH (electronically limited). 4Motion technology is quite advanced, while multi link transmission system is used on the Polo R. We are waiting to actually take this vehicle for a spin around track and road conditions and will come up with proper drive test reviews once proto types are made available.

Final specifications are said to be unveiled at Geneva, along with a face lifted standard Polo variant. Prices are yet to be confirmed at the Geneva Motor Show. There are no major differences on their exterior, while interior trim levels are yet to be unveiled. We expect a few more engine variants on the Polo R soon and will keep you posted as soon as we get confirmed news.
