Volkswagen loses ground as Audi, BMW and Mercedes gain larger profits
|   Monday, June 10, 2013
Volkswagen has been going through a rough patch in recent times. The sales of the company have gone down considerably in the last month compared to the same month in the previous year. The sales have gone down by a considerable 1.7% and have fallen to 38,913 units on the yearly basis. The company accounts for 72% of the diesel cars in the US and about 22.3% company sales in US.

The major concern to the company has been coming from the crossovers and the SUVs.
There has been an increasing demand for the larger cars in the US. The larger cars have been claiming the markets of the smaller cars and the sedans.

The company chief in US stated that the company is looking forward to making a car between the small sized SUV Tiguan and the larger SUV Touareg. This could add more variety to the chain of cars that the company has. This car is on the way but the company does not want to reveal the features of the car at the moment.

The growth rate has been very high and considerably double of what it has been in 2009. However the previous year was the best year for the company in terms of sales and the company is setting high standards to compete with the best records that the company could ever have in the long run. The company knows that it will not be the same as always and sales will go down at a certain point of time.

A few of the cars of the company have seen a rise in sales. The Beetle is the highest increased in sales with the introduction of the convertible model. The coupes have undergone considerable fewer sales. The Passat has been doing well so far. The VW Jetta is the largest selling car of the company and has increased the sales by 4.6%.

The company has seen a fall in all other models. This is because of the increasing demand of the Crossovers and SUVs. However the other competitors of the company have been doing well in the recent times. The luxury part of VW is Audi and they have seen a 15% increase in sales in this month compared to the last year in this month. They have been very impressive in making their way into the luxury car market.

BMW is one of the competitors who have shown improvement in sales with the introduction of the 3 series cars. They are a big company and they know very well how to control the momentum in their favour. Among the other competitors who are making a serious impact on the sales are Mercedes Benz and Jaguar Land Rover. Land Rover being a big car is expected to be there as the demand is high but Mercedes has been incredible to show sustenance and improve on the sales by about 10%.
