Volkswagen launches the latest Golf Sportsvan Concept
|   Thursday, September 12, 2013
The entire Golf lineup will be expanded by the end of this year with the debut of the latest Sportsvan variant. Frankfurt Motor Show is the event that will host the debut of the upcoming vehicle, already announcing it for production and showroom availability by mid 2014.

Designed on larger wheelbase, the upcoming Sportsvan seems to be a lot like the basic GolfVII, except that is 126 mm taller and 8 mm wider. The small increases in size have definitely contributed in creating a wider inner space, offering improved comfort.

Also, the expanded interior space has determined the production of an even larger rear bench sear and, what is eve more, a capacity growth up to 1,500 liters.
The standard Golf has also inspires the engineers who designed the same six engines, however, a lot improved as the power has been increased from 85 up to 150 horsepower.

It has also been made public that the production version will also include a series of contemporary options such as Automatic Post-Collision braking System, air conditioning, new electronic parking brake, variable cargo floor, 4 inch touchscreen, seven airbags, XDS+ and also a cargo cover. Quite impressive!
The drivers will be able to chose between four types of engines: 1.2 liter TSI and 85 hp, 1.4 liter TSI and 140 hp, 1.6 liter diesel unit and 105 hp and 2.0 liter diesel unit and 150 hp. The latest active cylinder Technology is only featured by the 1.4 liter TSI engine – being able to deactivate two cylinders in order to reach a fuel economy ration of 58.9 mpg.

Volkswagen has included a well developed series of innovative systems of assistance on the latest Golf Sportsvan. One of the most interesting options included is the Blind Spot Monitor which is able to make the driver aware of the cars in the blind spot. Moreover, the Rear Traffic Alert is also featured by this Blind Sport Monitor. Useful enough even for the more experienced drivers is the system that will identify cross traffic while approaching from behind the car – a quite difficult thing for the driver to spot.

In case an accident is imminent, the integrated system that enables the emergency braking function will be turned on. Also, the Adaptive Cruise Control will completely match the DCC dynamic chassis control and the emergency braking system.

Until the public release on the market and exhibition in the showrooms of the new Gold Sportsvan, we can still study the features of the Gold Mk VII as it has already been confirmed as the main inspiration model for the latest sportsvan.

We are eagerly waiting to test the first vehicle including the latest Golf Sportsvan Concept and we can surely state that, if it proves to be an efficient technology, it will also become the inspiration for the future designed cars as long as it will keep up with the green trends of the market. Those interested should know that the first vehicles will be available in the summer of 2014.
