Volkswagen Introduces The CrossBlue Coupe Concept
|   Wednesday, April 24, 2013
The Volkswagen is preparing to offer at the Shanghai Motor Show a world premiere: the CrossBlue Coupe Concept. As the name suggests, it is an evolution of the CrossBlue concept presented in January this year at the Detroit Auto Show.

They call it the CrossBlue Coupe Concept and it is an SUV that has a coupe silhouette. The new concept comes with an overall length of 4.89 meters, a width of 2.02 meters and has a wheelbase of 2.98 meters. The new creation from Volkswagen will be present at Shanghai, along with two other major German concepts, the Mercedes GLA and BMW X4.

It seems that the Germans wanted a coupe silhouette for its crosssover, perhaps inspired by the success that comes to such models on a worldwide scale. The futuristic look is given by the square lines of the LED lights, the grid lights being simplistic and pronounced in nature. The hood received a ventilation outlet, we have alloy wheel rims, the lower parts of the body were protected with plastic shields, and the engine power was suggested by two massive exhausts and received a tailgate aileron.

The passenger compartment is copied from CrossBlue concept, presented at Detroit. The dashboard design retains the sharp body lines but comes with many flat surfaces. The leather seats couldn't have been forgotten, along with the shiny plastic and metal inserts. Information is provided by a digital board instrument, while the good mood is provided by a multimedia system, both for the front seats and for the rear.

Any groundbreaking concept needs innovations under the hood. Volkswagen knows this, which is why the thought of a whole lot of horsepower for his SUV came to be. At the core lies a V6 engine with direct injection and turbocharging tech, assisted by two electric motors, in turn quite generous. The combination makes both axes to be set in motion by a total of 415 horsepower that is sufficient to ensure the acceleration, from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.9 seconds. The consumption retains hybrid values. Moreover, Volkswagen promises a pure electric driving over a distance of 33 kilometers.

The consumption values announced for the mixed regime is 6.9 liters per 100 km. The new CrossBlue Coupe Concept is a plug-in hybrid, which means that the batteries of the model can be recharged in a regular outlet. In the 100% electric mode, the engine can reach a speed of 120 km / h, while the top speed of the 2220 kg concept is 236 km / h.

The crossover will be showcased at the Shanghai Motor Shaw, which opens the way for a new design language, a more courageous one. This design will be adopted at a later date by all the SUVs hat will come out the doors of the manufacturer from Wolfsburg. By the way, the trunk compartment can hold a load volume of 537 liters, which can double in size, growing to 1,101 liters when the rear seats are folded.
