Volkswagen Hopes to Attract the European Buyers with the Beetle Cabriolet
|   Saturday, February 23, 2013
Volkswagen has recently launched the Beetle Cabriolet 1.2 TSI and the vehicle is powered by a 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine displacing 138 BHP. The engine is mated to a six speed manual transmission system and has been designed to make it stand out with the UK buyers. A smaller 1.2 liter TSI engine was also recently unveiled for the UK market and this could be the perfect thing that the customers were looking for.

The 1.2 liter TSI engine displaces 158 BHP while the 1.
liter petrol engine displaces 197 BHP. A 2.0 liter variant is also available and Volkswagen is talking about launching a 1.6 liter variant quite soon. The average fuel efficiency of the Beetle Cabriolet is 46.3 MPG while the CO2 emission is 142 g/km. The diesel variants of the vehicle are more fuel efficient but are priced more than the petrol variants.

Volkswagen had recently launched the Golf Cabriolet and the Beetle Cabriolet seems to have outdone the Golf. The vehicle is a pleasure to drive on the road and is a performance oriented vehicle. Volkswagen was very sure of its goals while designing the Beetle Cabriolet and this vehicle has turned out into the perfect vehicle in terms of class, performance and heritage.

Standard 17 inch wheels are used on the vehicle and the original lines on the body panel are present on the Cabriolet. This lends the vehicle the original British car appeal and Volkswagen plans on continuing with this design on all future models of the Golf. The Beetle weighs an approximate 1388 kg and this lends the vehicle a great power to weight ratio. On the road this is a great prospect and the Beetle handles quite effortlessly on the road.

The loss of the roof makes this vehicle less aerodynamic but that does not stop people from having fun in this vehicle. The cabin ergonomics of the Beetle Cabriolet is also pure classic and the dashboard has been set up in a plain yet elegant manner and this makes reading easy. The Beetle is the most significant vehicle from Volkswagen and the new engine options aim at making the ride a lot better than what it used to be.

Priced at £20,525, the Beetle Cabriolet sports a top speed of 111 MPH and accelerates from 0 – 60 MPH in 11.7 seconds. The cheaper 1.2 liter TSI engine is expected to be the most popular in the United Kingdom at the moment and this vehicle has been designed keeping in mind the needs of the European buyers.

Volkswagen could also introduce the Beetle Cabriolet in other parts of the world and a launch in China is most anticipated at the moment. However, Volkswagen has not made it clear if the vehicle will be available in the United States of America and no official confirmation has come in so far. Power production at 5000 RPM is the best feature about the vehicles and Volkswagen is providing optional 16 inch rims for people who love to tune the suspension settings.
