Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk7 at Geneva Motor Show 2013
|   Thursday, March 14, 2013
Volkswagen has updated the new Golf GTI Mk7 to be the fastest and most powerful Golf till date. The vehicle is expected to be launched in July and UK will be the first market to witness the vehicle. The final specifications have been revealed while the final test runs have been conducted on the vehicle as it is finally ready to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next week.

The Golf GTI Mk7 is very close to the concept vehicle showcased in 2012 and Volkswagen has maintained the exterior looks of the vehicle to enhance its aesthetics.
Two engine options are expected on the vehicle – a 217 BHP displacing standard version and a 227 BHP displacing Performance Enhanced version. 2.0 liter engines are standard on both models along with 258 ft lbs of torque displacement.

The engine is mated to a six speed dual clutch automatic transmission system while a manual version is expected to evolve quite soon. The standard version of the GTI can accelerate from 0 – 60 MPH in 6.5 seconds while the turbo charged version covers the same distance in 6 seconds. Both vehicles feature a top speed of 153 MPH with a combined fuel efficiency of 47.1 MPG along with 139 g/km of CO2 emission. The GTI features an all ne sports chassis including new steering wheels and transmission system.

Additional sports seats also line up the interior and give it a sporty feel. Standard 300 mm rear and 314 mm front ventilated discs are found in the GTI and the prices for both models start at £26,000 while expending up to £27,500 for the top end model. The top end model also features DSG and is available in a three door format.

Volkswagen is planning on introducing a five door version of the vehicles quite soon and should cost an additional £650 - £1000. Volkswagen has also introduced the specifications of the car and the 2.0 liter TDI engine is the powerhouse behind the car. Original displacements were 181 BHP and 280 ft lbs of torque while the six speed transmission system assisted the power train in distributing the power to the wheels.

The modification made to the engine is quite appealing and more power is always welcome. Volkswagen claims that the on road performance of the vehicles will improve while the CO2 emission and fuel efficiency will also be enhanced. Exterior wise, the new Golf GTI is a marvelous vehicle to look at and the front end has been modified by quite a bit.

The cabin is done up in black upholstery and that gives the vehicle a sporty feel. Standard 19 inch rims are used on the Golf GTI Mk7 and the attention to detail on this vehicle is quite noticeable. Volkswagen simply did not want to go wrong with this car and the Golf GTI reflects the same reactions. The initial response to the vehicle has been high and Volkswagen hopes that this converts directly to sales once the car launches.
