Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet Gets Fresh Design And Euro 6 Engines
|   Wednesday, September 23, 2015
Volkswagen has operated a series of discrete changes to the current generation Golf Cabriolet, namely it received a slight restyling and Euro 6 engines.
Although it may seem a little late, considering that the summer has just ending, Volkswagen has decided to offer a number of changes to the current generation Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet.

In the 36 years of life, the Golf Cabriolet has always been regarded as the roguish child of the German brand and soon became loved by the general public both in Europe and in the United States.

For the 2015 model year, the changes are more on styling. Thus, the Golf Cabriolet retains the preceding Golf – MK6 series bodywork. The sporty front bumper, side skirts as well as amendments at the level of customization can be noticed.

Six new colors for the exterior are available, a new color for the soft-top (which until now was just black) and new rims models, specially designed for the small Cabriolet. The convertible version will receive a freshened look with several sports accents for the rear spoiler too. Moreover, now the convertible can be ordered with six new types of rims.

This version also brings some changes to the inside as well. Here, we have a new model for both types of upholstery, leather or textile. Depending on the equipment that a customer chooses, the new Golf Cabriolet can be equipped with new multimedia systems Composition Colour and Composition Media, and with the top navigation system, Discover Media.

However, the new systems will provide Car-Net multimedia connectivity, much easier integration of smart phones, and as required in most contemporary cars, Internet for news, traffic alerts and weather data. With the help of these online applications, customers can search for restaurants, museums and cinemas, in an area they do not know.

The engine range will include four petrol engines and two diesels, all ready to meet Euro 6 emission standards.
Those who want a gasoline unit receive the 1.2 TSI unit, with 105 horsepower and a torque of 175 Nm, the 1.4 TSI unit with 125 hp and torque of 200 Nm, and the stronger version of the latter, 1.4 TSI rated at 150 hp.

The fourth engine modified to comply with new pollution rules scheduled to take effect this fall is the 2.0-liter unit that's equipping the Golf GTI Cabrio version.
It gets 10 extra hp though, managing to score 220 hp. The added resources help the convertible accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.9 seconds, some 0.4 seconds faster than the previous version. Also aligning with the Euro 6 standards, the average consumption is reduced to just 6.5 liters / 100 kilometers.

For those who prefer the diesel motorization, Golf Cabrio promises two engines, 2.0-liter TDI with two power variants: 110 hp with 250 Nm of torque and 150 hp with 340 Nm of torque. The latter offers 10 extra horsepower and 20 Nm compared to the previous version.

This input helps the convertible to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 9.2 seconds and achieve an average fuel consumption of 4.6 liters / 100 kilometers.
