Vauxhall launches the VXR as the top of the line model

Vauxhall is re launching the Insignia VXR as the all new top of the line super car. The vehicle has a top speed of 170 MPH and is highly affordable. The high end top speed has also been boosted by 15 MPH due to the absence of the speed limiter. However, the Insignia has been priced at 29,995 Pounds and there has been a reduction of the original price by 4000 Pounds to reach this level.

The Insignia VXR does not really have a competitor in the market as of now as it is one of the most affordable super cars ever.
The closest rival to the VXR is the Porsche Cayman S which sports a top speed of 172 MPH and is priced upwards of 48,000 Pounds. The Vauxhall VXR is also a four seated vehicle featuring speeds this great and as a result only the BMW M5 can be compared to the vehicle in its true sense. However, the standard trim of the BMW M5 is priced at 73,000 Pounds and this is way out of the league.

However, the Vauxhall VXR is not the only low budget super car on road. General Motors had in 1990 unveiled the Lotus Carlton which reached speeds of 176 MPH and this was a four seated coupe as well. Lotus was owned by General Motors at the time just like Vauxhall. The Carlton was however priced at 48,000 Pounds and was powered by a 3.6 liter twin turbo straight six engine which makes the Vauxhall VXR stand out in the competition.

The VXR on the other hand is powered by a 2.8 liter V6 engine with forged steel and alloyed sump and crank shaft. The vehicle features a twin scroll turbo charger and as a result power development is fixed at 320 BHP. The damping Hi Per Strut suspension system on the front and rear end of the vehicle has been installed instead of a Macpherson system and as a result the vehicle is different from other mainstream vehicles from Vauxhall.

The VXR accelerates from 0 – 60 MPH in 5.6 seconds and can be distinguished from other vehicles of the Insignia lineup with the help of the Brembo lettering in blue. The gauges and speedometer has been revamped and as a result the interior has also been given a new look. Pre bookings have been opened with the vehicle set to be available across showrooms fall 2013.

The exterior has been given a face lift with the addition of a new front grille, calibrated and sharp front lamps with sleek lines at the sides leading to the rear. The rear portion of the vehicle has also been modified by applying new rear lamps. The Vauxhall design team has done a good job with the VXR and this vehicle is also available in different shades of metallic painting which gives the vehicle a desirable look. Overall, the Vauxhall VXR is a complete package providing performance, luxury, space and comfort and is cheap to run as well.
