Vauxhall Launches the Mokka 4 x 4 for European Customers
|   Wednesday, April 24, 2013
The Vauxhall Mokka managed to raise quite a few eyebrows with its launch but this four wheel drive SUV has the potential to increase the market share of Vauxhall in the European market. The Mokka 4 x 4 is new in the UK and its popularity is slowly increasing over its predecessor, the two wheel drive version. However, the only advantage provided by the All Wheel Drive platform is the increased traction.

Considering the terrain and landscape scenario of the targeted market, the front wheel drive version of the Mokka makes more sense as this vehicle is hardly expected to meet the challenges that an All Wheel Drive vehicle has the ability to overcome.
The popularity of the Front Wheel Drive vehicle will also increase in the price sensitive market as it is £1545 cheaper than it All Wheel Drive cousin.

The engine remains the same with power displacements of 128 BHP while the CO2 emission is down to 124 g/km from 129 g/km. The acceleration time from 0 – 60 MPH is 10.0 seconds compared to the 10.4 seconds required by the Front Wheel Drive vehicle. More importantly, there are no major differences between the two vehicles apart from their drive train. The Vauxhall Mokka finds stiff market completion from the Nissan Juke and the Skoda Yeti.

Even though the ride height of the Mokka is quite high, the drive train setting of the vehicle is adequately set. The interior design is not very different from other vehicles designed by Vauxhall and there are a few typical Vauxhall components on the interior. However, the center console is quite haphazard and this could undermine the estimated value of the vehicle in the market.

Even though the Mokka features a diesel engine, the ride quality is not as stiff as a conventional diesel while the engine note is quite refined. The Mokka is actually a decent cruiser if the excess weight of the vehicle can be ignored. It is also more agile than both the Yeti and the Juke and this also plays a major role in enhancing the drive ability of the Mokka.

Priced at £19,445, the Mokka is not the most expensive of the lot. However, people get what they pay for and this is the best in its price range. The Mokka has made all the right noises in the market so far and is expected to outsell its market competitors this fiscal year. Experts believe that Vauxhall has the potential to finish third after Skoda and Nissan and the major reason behind this is the Mokka.

Vauxhall is steadily climbing up the rank charts followed by a few successful launches last year and the company plans on keeping up the momentum with steady launches and face lifts. The Mokka is one of the best sellers in some of the markets around the world and Vauxhall plans on bringing this vehicle to some of the growing markets around the world by year end. It looks like the company has a big investment plan coming up very soon.
