Two of the High Potential Concepts Showcased At the Detroit Auto Show
|   Monday, January 28, 2013
Hyundai has showcased the HCD 14 Concept at the Detroit Auto Show and this vehicle resembles the Audi A7 from most angles. It is based on a longer wheelbase, features increased dimensions and the body structure, panels etc. resembles an Audi more than a Hyundai. Nonetheless there are no copyright infringements and therefore people can safely call this a Hyundai. The Japanese car makers have treaded into unfamiliar territory with the design of the HCD 14.

This is a very attractive machine from Hyundai and the company has experimented with its looks to appeal to the European and American customers and bring a different flavor to the other markets. The styling is quite successful and people seem to like the idea behind the design. However, this is purely a concept vehicle and Hyundai has not confirmed plans to officially launch this vehicle.

The bold designing moves need appreciation and people seem to enjoy what Hyundai plans on doing with its vehicles in the future. The basic idea behind the HCD 14 Concept is the fact that it is a concept design and as a result Hyundai is free to try out any crazy style that they might have in mind. The will to penetrate into an unknown segment needs to be appreciated and the HCD 14 Concept has the potential to be a very practical vehicle.

The Lincoln MKC Concept is another crazy design, but fans seem to like what they see. The MKC resembles a Ford exterior design and people will find it hard to believe that this is actually a Lincoln. This is in fact the first practical SUV from Lincoln and the company is usually famous for its sedans.

Although the vehicle is not complete and the prototype showcased at the Detroit Auto Show was barely finished after throwing in the seats and upholstery. However, the final vehicle is expected to look like the prototype and this is a positive sign and hence the enthusiasts are rejoicing. Although nothing has been officially confirmed, Lincoln has not rubbished the claims as of yet.

Although the MKC Concept is not Land Rover challenging stuff, but it is pretty close behind and considering the fact that Lincoln is still comparatively new in the field of SUV designing, their effort needs to be lauded. The Land Rover Evoque is built on a great platform and Lincoln could look forward to their rivals for inspiration. Although the Evoque faces a space crunch, the customers do not seem to mind as the vehicle makes up for performance and reliability where it loses out on space.

The SUV segment needs big players and is attracting customers. As a result, car makers are keen on launching products in this segment However, Lincoln needs to maintain the MKC Concept's close cut designs on the production model if they expect to keep their customer base interested in the design. The MKC has to compete in the luxury segment with the big players but Lincoln is confident that their first SUV can beat all odds.
