Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R makes its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show

This fall everything seems to happen at the Frankfurt Motor Show! Toyota has decided to launch the new version of the Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R at the Frankfurt Motor Show too and rumor has it that this new vehicles incorporated the hybrid technology with an incredible racing prototype – TS030.

For the new Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R, the base power seems to be supported by a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine which has been enhanced by two extremely energetic and dynamic electric motors for the rear wheels.
Toyota Motorsport GmbH has precisely designed a central combustion engine which, according to FIA rules, should be able to produce 300hp and 309 lb-ft of torque.

Both of the electric wheel motors seem to be able to make 60 hp which boosts the entire system up to 420 hp. Similarly to other hybrid cars, the electric motors should be functioning as generators during braking. This way they store the energy in a super capacitor which has been placed right under the back seat.
There is also a third 60 hp electric motor which has been placed between the six speed sequential transmission and the engine and, it seems that while deceleration, it is able to act exactly as a generator, feeding the battery in order to make the rear wheels even more accelerated.

Yaris Hybrid-R has been designed by the company as one of the most aggressive and bold models released so far. It is true that the sporty look makes it very sharp and daring perhaps throughout the bumper which was designed with a pair of large air intakes and LED daytime running lights. Also, this latest design includes flared fenders which surround 18 inch TRD wheels featuring Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires.

All with a button! It seems that a button on the steering wheel is able to switch between the road and track modes. The difference is that the road mode will definitely decrease the engine output and, of course, the level of the fuel, at the same time conserving energy by lowered turbo compression. The hybrid vehicle can also run only on electric power but this definitely depends on the charge of the battery.

On the other hand, the track mode completely uses the system's power. Over the 300 hp delivered by the engine, another extra 120 hp can be added by the electric motor. In case of a loss of grip, the rear motor will be ready to contribute, this way the torque can be mainly distributed in the back, irregularly.

Toyota ensures those drivers interested in acquiring a Yaris Hybrid-R that everything in this vehicle has been designed and produced in order to totally increase the enjoyment while driving. The Toyota fans will surely be satisfied but until then, there is still a little while and everyone should be eager to find out even more details in just a couple of days, at the Frankfurt Motor Show. We'll be counting the hours until then!
