Top 5 Fastest Mercedes-Benz Models for Their Time
|   Friday, July 14, 2017
The Germans from Mercedes-Benz have a rich history in producing fast cars. They even have some models that set records in this respect. Mercedes-Benz's fans are legion so that's why we present a quick top of the fastest Mercedes-Benz models for their day.
The Germans have released this ranking, which is an interesting one for all car enthusiasts. As they themselves say, in introducing the movie, this is a journey in time that shows us the fastest 5 models at their time.

5. Mercedes-Benz Simplex
The car was produced in 1902 by Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft. At the time, the car had 40 horsepower and a maximum speed of 11 kilometers / hour. As stated even the Mercedes-Benz, the Simplex model was the “king of the road” at that time.
The model was designed by Wilhelm Maybach, Stuttgart,Germany. It boasted powerful engines with power ranging from 40 to 60 hp. Its large and wide body had a low center of gravity. This car allowed Mercedes to place the foundation of a new car segment: the super-luxury class.

4. Blitzen-Benz
In 1910, Mercedes-Benz produced Blitzen-Benz, a racing car, which hit the speed record in 1911, reaching 228 kilometers per hour. This speed limit was even higher than that which planes could reach then.
Of the six copies produced, only two survived over time, one being owned by Mercedes-Benz, and the other one being in the garage of a collector in the United States.

3. Mercedes-Benz V12
This model too is one that broke down a record. A speed record, obviously. In 1938, the Mercedes-Benz V12 achieved that with a maximum speed of 432.7 kilometers / hour. And because it is interesting information, we can say that since then, no cars have exceeded this record on public roads.

2. Mercedes-Benz 300 SL
With a top speed of 250 km/h, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL came out on the market as the fastest production car in the world in 1954. This model is the first variant of the SL Grand Tourer.
It was produced in 1954 and was presented as a coupe with two seats and doors known as “gullwing”, a term which we all know now. Later, the model was offered for customers as a convertible roadster.
The Gullwing era begun in 1952, when the Mercedes-Benz W 194 coupe built its racing win streak (Mille Miglia, Carrera Panamericana, Le Mans and Nurburgring).
The car brings an interesting innovation, especially for women: the steering wheel is folded down, creating enough space between its spindle and the driver's legs, making it easy for the driver to get out of the car even when wearing a skirt.

1. Mercedes-AMG GT R
Also dubbed the “Beast of Green Hell”, this model was put on the market in 2017 and announced from the first glance a sports car pedigree. The Mercedes-AMG GT R is a car that topped the record for the fastest sports car in Nordschleife-Nurburgring, with a 7-minute and 11-second run in 2016.
