Top 10 Most Efficient Small and Compact SUVs of 2017
|   Saturday, February 25, 2017
The ranking below presents the most economical SUVs and crossover vehicles on sale now. All are compact, work on diesel and have generous interior spaces.
It's important to remember, though, that this ranking focuses on the fuel consumption efficiency of each model.
10. Honda HR-V 1.6 i-DTEC: 4 l / 100 km

The manufacturer is known for its economic models, take just a look at the Civic Tourer, which holds the world record in this respect, 2.8 l / 100 km.
The HR-V uses the same engine, even if does not reach the same efficiency level.
9. Mazda CX-3 1.5d: 4 l / 100 km

CX-3 is based on Mazda 2 supermini, so its qualities are found in this model too. With a fuel consumption of only 4 l / 100 km, CX-3 is performing well on the road, has a stylish interior (maybe a bit more cramped) and, perhaps most importantly, looks good. Hence the spicy price, but you recover money from the low fuel consumption and maintenance costs.
8. Suzuki Vitara 1.6 DDiS: 4 l / 100 km

Suzuki was noted in the automotive world as a good builder for lightweight cars, so the relatively massive Vitara enjoys a fuel efficiency index of 4 l / 100 km. The model is a compact SUV, easy to drive, comfortable and overall a high quality 4x4.

7. Nissan Juke 1.5 dCi: 4 l / 100 km

The beautiful crossover seems to behave best with this engine, although it can be purchased in less efficient variants, of 1.6 and 1.2 liter displacements using gasoline.
6. Opel Mokka X 1.6 CDTi: 3.9 l / 100 km

Since the time of launch, Opel Mokka was top in European preferences (especially the British). The recent upgrade Mokka X, goes the same way. With the latest diesel engine "Whisper", the 1.6-liter model consumes only 3.9 l / 100 km.
5. Renault Kadjar 1.5 dCi: 3.8 l / 100 km

The Kadjar model from Renault is mechanically identic with the Nissan Qashqai, so it's not surprising that it behaves in the same parameters in terms of consumption and efficiency.
4. Nissan Qashqai 1.5 dCi: 3.8 l / 100 km

Qashqai from Nissan is in a different class than the cars on the first three positions, which means that fuel consumption of 3.8 l / 100 km is truly impressive. With huge space for family and luggage, this is one of the most popular crossover vehicles in Europe. All Qashqai motorization are economic, but the diesel 1.5 dCi is the champion.
3. Peugeot 2008 1.6 BlueHDi: 3.7 l / 100 km

3rd place, with a consumption of 3.7 l / 100 km is Peugeot 2008. This model resembles the C4 Cactus, but it is somewhat more luxurious on the inside, and has a different driving dynamics. It's a little harder, but this will not necessarily be seen at the pump.
2. Renault Captur 1.5 dCi: 3.6 l / 100 km

Renault Captur is the smallest crossover in the French carmaker's portfolio, sitting somewhere between Kadjar and Koleos models. It has a 1.5 liter diesel engine with 89 horsepower, but for a car of this size, it's more than enough. What really impresses is the consumption of just 3.6 liters per 100 km.
1. Citroen C4 Cactus BlueHDi 1.6: 3.4 l / 100 km

Citroen C4 Cactus focuses on simplicity and lack of weight, so it's not surprising that it occupies the first position in the ranking. For a large family car, consumption figures are really impressive.
