Three wheeler Reliant Robin still rolling in the 21st century
|   Sunday, April 28, 2013
In the 21st century where there are cars like the La Ferrari and the McLaren ruling the roads and you have exquisite cars like the Rolls Royce Ghost for people's class and comfort you still have three wheeler cars rolling slowly and steadily on the roads of UK. This is not something that is unusual. Three wheeler cars have been on the roads for a long time now.

It actually looks a little weird and uncomfortable to look at these cars still running on the roads.
This is not the best piece of engineering many a miles. The concept of three wheeler cars came into existence when a few cycle producers took to making these cars and then sold the patent of the car to two of the employees of the company. That is how the Reliant Robin came into existence.

This car may have a lot of disadvantages accompanying it but it definitely gives you relief from tax and finance. A three wheeler car is always categorised in the motor cycle sector. Hence the tax is less and is as low as a two wheeler. This is a great advantage for the people.

The cars may not have the best of the looks to go with. The production of these cars started in 1973 and it continued till 1981. Then after a brief stop the production of these cars started again from 1989 and continued till the later part of 2002. The cars have a good market in the UK.

Though the car has a lot of criticism for safety issues the owners of the car have always defended the car as a very safe companion. To go with statistics show that the Reliant Robin has the least number of accidents. The critics say that this is because the driver of the car knows that the car is not safe and he is always extra careful about the fact and that reduces accident.

The car was initially launched at 750 cc but later it was upgraded to 850 cc. The car was never a speed monster. The car has a very light weight of below 1000 pounds and yet is not quick with an 850cc engine. This looks strange at times as the three wheeler car is not good to look at either.

The car definitely offers a lot of benefits and tax concessions and has the space of a four wheeler so it is still preferred by some people in UK. Later on the company decided to make a four wheel option for this car and made it on order but that did not last long and the company resented back to making the three wheel version.

Even though the car does not have the greatest of success stories it is still running on the roads. The car still has a lot to offer to the people. This is why we still see these cars and there is still some time before we can finally bid goodbye to these cars.
