The Vauxhall Astra VXR is a performer in its own rights

Vauxhall is known for creating its unusual brand of super cars and the VXR is one such example. The company has launched the Astra VXR high performance vehicle and on the exterior front the vehicle looks stunning. The Astra is qualified to be called a VXR as the vehicle produces 276 BHP and this is adequate to power this front wheel drive vehicle.

This may not sound much on paper but in a practical world this is enough power on a road going vehicle.
The new design is aerodynamic and Vauxhall expects high sales off this particular model. The wheels highlight the total exterior of the vehicle and feature Bembo ceramic disk calipers and pedals.

The 2.0 liter turbo charged engine has been beefed up before being installed in the Astra VXR and is lifted directly off the 2.0T. Power and torque production on this vehicle is decent and up to the mark and the vehicle does not feel extremely fast. However, it is not too slow to feel flaggy.

The Astra VXR has a slip differential limiter along with Vauxhall's HiPer Strut suspension which has also been used on the Renault Megane and the Ford Focus RS. The hydraulic driven steering feels stable and the car does not suffer excess body roll or wheel spin. These are some of the best features of the Astra VXR and as a result the vehicle is a successful entity on road.

Vauxhall claims the best in class fuel efficiency and performance figures for the Astra VXR and this vehicle can accelerate to 60 MPH in less than 6 seconds. If the vehicle is pushed after a certain level the clutch level begins to overheat. This is a problem and hence the Astra VXR cannot be used for sports purposes.

0 – 100 MPH comes in close to 16.5 MPH and this is not an improvement of the timing of the Astra. This is a thing of concern as the drive train enhancements could not cut out timings, even by a margin. Fourth gear shifting comes in around 6 – 7 seconds and this is the time when the vehicle delivers maximum power. Torque generated during this period is optimum and hence 100 MPH is touched close to 12 seconds.

From the exterior front the Astra VXR may look like any other conventional sports vehicle but on the interior front the vehicle sports its own character. The vehicle has high technical standards as well as luxury components and the leather coating that the seats have enhances the overall feel of the vehicle. The materials used are of top quality and the overall finish is excellent.

Interior space is also a positive story here and the increased headroom and legroom allows the passengers to travel in peace and comfort. The LED laid out meters and gauges are perfect and the Astra VXR also features an LED daytime running lights. The use of red is rampant on the interior and the dash board has a mean look when the lights are turned on in complete darkness.
