The twin-turbo, 400HP, V6 engine based Cadillac Next-Gen Car
|   Saturday, April 11, 2015
Cadillac is going to invest around $12 billion to make its upcoming twin turbocharged, 400 horsepower and V6 engine based next generation cars. All the products will get ready till 2020 as per the company's statement and its entry to last five market segments have become crux of those initiatives. Also, General Motors refurbished the Michigan, Romulus engine plant by making it a total of around $540 billion. This enabled to make two new Cadillac models with all new engines.

There are two new engines of V6 feature which will appear within the 2016 CT6 of Cadillac' sedan flagship. However, the engines are going to make their own way to ATS and CTS. This all new engine has 3.6 liter size, produces 335 hp with its LGX version and twin turbocharged 400 hp and 3.0 liter engine is there in LGW version. Both of them have V6s of 60 degrees and share the basic features like aluminum heads and blocks, new bore at center with different dimensions, a forged and steel crankshaft, a block having cross bolts of deep skirt, a chain driving double cam at overhead.

It also has automatic start stop system and auto cylinder shutting down ability to improve efficiency significantly. Researches now involve both longitudinal and transverse orientation; however, Cadillac seems to stick with its latter configuration. These fourth gen descendant engines have really high features, V6 which was first created in 2004. GM's Chief Engineer, Dave Muscaro said that the priorities did not have that much of importance to guide these engines' development.

The latest research enabled the engines to give higher output with less harshness, vibration, noise and higher performance, responsiveness with much improved efficiency in each outcome. Muscaro also stated that twin turbo is the best performing V6 in the car industry as it is combined with first ever turbocharger concept with direct injection, cylinder deactivation and auto start stop technology.

Chief Executive Engineer of Cadillac, Dave Leone pointed out that the two V6s are not going to end the era of V8. When the brand dropped wreath environment, the crest as old baggage and classic model V Insignia was not seen for so many days, powerful V8s are going to live on V series models and sports models as well. Cadillac has announced few new additions to these models and best one is 2016 CT6 to have twin turbo with V8.

It is big challenge to bring better output with fewer pistons and less displacement. So it is better to have compact V6s which can show result of V4s in lighter loaded conditions for fuel saving. These savings always come from less throttle losses with less heat rejections to cooling system. Engineers have considered on several features which these engines are going to offer. Adding few new things like titanium aluminum turbine wheels in Mitsubishi turbocharger, it trims by claiming 51 percent. Integrated exhausts save cost, volume and mass. Its 3.6 liter size engine will produce 335 hp at 6800 rpm producing 284 pound ft torque with 5300 rpm while using regular fuel. Cadillac is hopeful that this car will take them to few ranks higher than their current stage.
