The Subaru Impreza WRX over the Years
|   Thursday, April 18, 2013
Some of the most exotic rides of the year were showcased at the New York Motor Show and the long list of high end vehicles included the Subaru WRX Concept. This could be the next generation model of the Subaru WRX and the company claims that production of the model could start quite soon. This is being said to corroborate Subaru's claim that the old model of the WRX will not be available in the UK.

The Subaru Impreza WRX was first launched way back in 1992 and the vehicle was powered by a 2.
liter Boxer engine with optional front and rear wheel drive options. Subaru designed this vehicle keeping in mind the lessons learned during the days of the World Rally Championship. The WRX soon gained massive popularity with the off road lovers and the vehicle was competitively priced.

The first turbo charged engine was installed in the WRX in 1994 and this 2.0 liter four cylindered turbo charged engine displaced 208 BHP along with 201 ft lb of torque and this quickly escalated the popularity charts of the youngsters. The WRX was a very successful model and its popularity began to sore. Priced at £17,499, the Subaru WRX quickly gained mass support and was beginning to gain worldwide sales.

It was also a favorite at rallies and Subaru was beginning to cash in on this popularity by designing limited edition vehicles. The Impreza 22B is the most preferred WRX limited edition models ever and Subaru designed just 400 units of this car. This vehicle marked the completion of the fourth decade of Subaru in the market and was powered by a 2.2 liter turbo charged engine displacing 276 BHP.

This vehicle was sold exclusively in the UK as well as Japan and featured a right hand drive platform. However, the Subaru Impreza WRX STi is the most advanced version of the vehicle till date. The suspension setting of this car was completely new and suited for driving off road. The C Pillar formation of the vehicle was one of the finest in class and was seen as the best in class by many Subaru lovers.

The Subaru Impreza CS400 came up in 2010 in accordance with Subaru's partnership with Cosworth and this vehicle sported a huge turbo charged engine with a highly tuned turbo charger. This vehicle displaced a mammoth 395 BHP and accelerated from 0 – 60 MPH in less than 3.7 seconds. However, Subaru designed just 40 units of this car, each priced at £49,995.

The cars were highly tuned and perfectly suited to off road conditions. The adjustable anti roll bar along with the hawk eye designing brought out the best aspect of the car and this made this vehicle highly popular with the sports enthusiasts. The vehicle had a perfect balance and handling was improved as compared to its predecessor. Body roll and wheel spin were reduced and this gave the vehicle its edge in terms of performance. The Subaru WRX features a lot of improvements over the years and the product has been modified over the years to achieve the final version of today.
