The Rolls Royce Wraith Seen Testing on British Roads
|   Tuesday, May 07, 2013
The first model of the Rolls Royce Wraith has been spotted testing on British roads for the first time since the vehicle was launched. The Wraith was seen undergoing pre production modifications early this year, prior to the official unveil and the company is rushing to make the last minute preparations as the car is expected to go on sale this autumn. Rolls Royce promises that the Wraith will be the best definition of Rolls Royce and hence the hype around this vehicle is natural.

Rolls Royce for the first time has aimed at the younger generation and hence modifications such as reduction in wheelbase and ground clearance has been made to make the vehicle suitable to the needs of the target market. The Wraith also features firmer damper and suspension settings and this heightens the sense of stability on this vehicle.

The Wraith is powered by a twin turbo charged 6.6 liter V12 engine lifted off the Ghost. However, certain modifications have been done to the engine to enhance power displacement and delivery. The Wraith displaces 624 BHP along with 590 ft lb of torque while the engine is mated to an eight speed automatic transmission system. Rolls Royce claims that the Wraith is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH in less than 4.4 seconds, which is quite amazing considering it is a product of Rolls Royce.

Rolls Royce is encouraging customers to opt for the dual tone paint scheme as seen on the Concept while the design of the bonnet is similar to the one on the Ghost. The Wraith incidentally is designed on a similar platform as that of the Ghost although the dimensions have been reduced to facilitate the two seated design. Priced at £235,000 the Wraith is not the cheapest on the block but it definitely has a ring to it.

Rolls Royce is also considering a Wraith Convertible by the end of the year although plans are still at their nascent stages. The Wraith has the perfect platform to support a convertible and Rolls Royce is looking forward to this opening to design a convertible for the customers. A Wraith based convertible will definitely be popular as this vehicle is designed for the younger generation.

Although no immediate launch plans have been made, Rolls Royce is open to the idea of such a launch in the near future. New models are on the cards and Rolls Royce is looking forward to powerful engines in future. Rolls Royce also plans on increasing their annual car sales by the end of 2016.

Rolls Royce is currently selling 900 units of the Phantom and 2500 units of the Ghost every year and with the Wraith in the cards Rolls Royce plans on increasing targeted sales by a minimum of 1500. Rolls Royce is set to enhance sales although the firm has no plans to launch a budget friendly vehicle at the moment. Rolls Royce plans on maintaining its exclusivity and hence the prices are unlikely to come down anytime soon.
