The new Honda Accord: What\'s Coming Next
|   Wednesday, September 12, 2012
After decades of success and the becoming of one of the most favorite cars in the world, the Honda Accord returns to the showrooms with some updates to design and model. This will be the ninth generation of Honda Accord . The car has been one of the leading flagship cars of the Japanese automaker but what is fascinating is the success and popularity of the Accord despite heavy competition over the years.

Competition from many leading brands including Toyota ( Avalon, Camry), Nissan (Altima and Maxima) and Hyundai( Sonata),Chevrolet (Malibu) and Ford( Fusion).
This is just a list of some of the close competition of cars in close price ranges. The list goes on over the years as more auto makers penetrate the market in all market of the world including the Volkswagen Passat and the KIA Optimium.

When designing and imagining the 2013 model of the Accord, the makers decided on one important factor, Don't change what isn't wrong. Let the people enjoy the sleak and sophisticated design of the Accord. Don't stray away from what is already acceptable in the market. Hence the new model of the Accord really isn't all that different from the current model considering how the look of the car has been changing from regeneration to generation. The most notable changes however to the Accord has got to be the new front grill of the Accord that now has much lower and sharper character lines. The change in the materials used in the making of the body, the use of high tensile steel is much more than the previous generations.

What about the engine? Is it also the same or do we have some new toys in their too? Well, what's exciting in the new model is that Honda just added a 6 speed gearbox for all of 4 cylinders instead of the standard 5 speed engines in the previous generations. However, 6 speed is only available for the V4s in Manual but is there for V6 in both manual and automatic. The engine size is also larger, 3.5 liter engine with 278hp and 252 pound feet torque for the V6 line up. The base however remains a standard engine of 2.4 liters but of course if you want a more powerful car, you gotta in a little more money into the bank.

The rear of the car has also received some new changes. There are less cut lines in the bumper as compared to the previous generation, in fact is more round than a diamond shaped rear and the new dotted LED lights simply give the rear a really attractive look. The Chassis has been replaced and comes with a new McPherson strut setup. Why? Well they claim that this new frame helps the car become more easy to handle and makes the car much more ligther.

The Honda Accord also got a new Double based information system, although much of the same interior design has been repeated in the new generation. The info center comes with two separate LED screens both touch controlled. More or less the idea is to make the driver feel that the entire media center is touch controlled while giving the car an extra larger screen for the navigation system.

The new Accord has been creating rumors in the market and it's success is yet to be determined. However, the designs now have very tough competition with almost every car manufacturer introducing new designs of models this year.
