The New Generation Nissan Qashqai Released in November
|   Friday, April 19, 2013
In 2007 Nissan created a compact model that would spread the crossover concept worldwide. The Qashqai distinguished itself from the rest of the pack, and quickly became a compact crossover that came as an ideal alternative for customers in this segment which is very popular in Europe.
The Nissan Qashqai is one of the most popular models in the world the Japanese manufacturer owns. Andy Palmer, head of global planning at Nissan, said the new Qashqai will roll out in November and will have a look totally different.

According to the Nissan official, the Japanese crossover will receive a new modular platform, which will be seen in the future on a number of Renault models. Moreover, the new platform allows implementation of a plug-in hybrid chassis, which means that shortly after its launch, the new Qashaqi will receive an eco version.

The Qashqai could borrow some of the design lines from the Hi-Cross concept, presented in 2012 at the Geneva Motor Show.
As for the technological support of the new SUV, already there is talk that the new platform will accommodate the already popular 1.6-liter dCi diesel engine of the Renault-Nissan Alliance. The possibility of seeing a 1.2-liter TCe engine with a turbocharger capable of delivering 100 horsepower is also in the works and cannot be ruled out. Nissan will also count on the services of a hybrid assembly, but it is not expected earlier than 2016.

Returning to the new Qashqai platform, we have to specify that it will be modular, which means that it can be used for other models in the range. The other candidate for receiving it is the new generation X-Trail.
The architecture platform allows to provide the front wheel drive in the standard version, and optional full.

"The future Qashqai will be innovative with both styling and technology," stated Andy Palmer. "Don't expect it to look like the current car with a few extra radiuses."

Palmer confirmed that the plug-in hybrid variant will be brought to showrooms in Europe in 2015. The hybrid's CO2 emissions will go under 50g/km, while a 113 hp 1.2-liter supercharged 3-cylinder engine will replace the present 1.6-litre gasoline engine. The new 1.6-litre diesel, carried over from the current car, will have its CO2 emissions cut below 100g/km.

High-end versions will continue being offered with AWD option, and while the vehicle will be larger, prices will be similar to today's model.
The new Qashqai will on sale the first thing next year, however the Sunderland factory where it will be made is prepping for production to kick off this December. There is another important factor that gladdens the workers there: with this new model the jobs there will be secure for a few more years.

Last year alone, the present version was Britain's 6th largest selling new car, with over 45,000 units finding owners. It was a success in export too, with some 85 percent of all Qashqai production (262,985 cars) heading overseas.
