The New Ford Kuga Facelift Will Be Unveiled At Geneva
|   Saturday, March 12, 2016
The updated version of the Kuga was presented at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
After launching the EcoSport facelift last year, Ford continues to reinvigorate its range of SUVs with the updated version of the Ford Kuga. Ford will launch throughout 2016 the Edge model in Europe too, this offensive coming in the context in which IHS, the company that specializes in the analysis to the automotive industry, expects by 2020 that SUV models will come to represent 27 percent of all cars sold in Europe.

Another trend that redefines the automotive industry is connectivity solutions and alternative methods of interaction with multimedia systems. One of the main innovations of the Ford Kuga facelift for the European market is the SYNC3 system which allows voice controlling the navigation, climate and audio systems.
Using SYNC3 the driver need only press a button and then speak a command, such as "I need a coffee", "I need oil," "I need to park" and the system will locate the nearest coffee shop, fuel station, or parking. Similarly, SYNC3 can be used to find an airport, a train station or a hotel.

Also, interacting with SYNC3 can be done via 8-inch touch screen built into the dashboard. It recognizes the same touch controls that we use for the touch screen of a smartphone. SYNC3 offers connectivity with both iPhones with Apple CarPlay and with the Android via Android Auto (includes Google Maps, Google Search, Google Play). The software can be updated via Wi-Fi too. In addition, SYNC AppLink voice-enabled applications are offered as well, like MyBoxMan, HearMeOut, AccuWeather, Cadena Ser and Los 40 Principales.

The list of driving assistance systems available for Ford Kuga includes Active City Stop. When its sensors detect stationary objects, and the car is approaching too fast it prepares the brakes for maximum efficiency, and if the driver does not intervene, the car automatically brakes. This prevents collision or reduces impact forces. The new version of Active City Stop system which equips the Kuga intervenes at speeds up to nearly 50 km / h, compared to the previous limit of 30 km / h.

Kuga has received new bi-xenon headlights too. They have LED daytime running lights, are adaptable, having the function to automatically adjust the angle of projected light, depending on speed, steering angle and the distance to an object in front of the car.

The engine range is complemented by a new 1.5 TDCi diesel engine rated at 120 hp, which is offered in a front-wheel drive configuration. The new engine consumes 4.4 liters of fuel per 100 km and emits 115 g CO2 / km. Those who prefer diesel, have 2.0 TDCi engine alternatives.

In the 150 hp version offered with front or four-wheel drive this engine recorded a fuel consumption of 4.7 l / 100 km. Also, the 180 hp version coupled with four-wheel drive guzzles 5.2 l / 100 km. The 1.5 EcoBoost petrol engine is available with front-wheel drive variants with 120 and 150 hp, which have average fuel consumption of 6.2 l / 100 km. Last, but not least, the 1.5 EcoBoost engine is offered with 182 hp and four-wheel drive needing 7.4 l / 100 km.
