The New Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost
|   Monday, April 29, 2013
The Ford Fiesta is Britain's bestselling car, and with good reason. A history of outstanding performance, luxurious comfort and high safety standards, in addition to a reputation for reasonable pricing, has meant that the Fiesta is without a doubt one of the best all round performers on the market. And, as such, it's able to handle itself nicely within a competitive market, as figures have shown.

Ford Fiesta Upgraded for 2013
Fresh for 2013 is the 1.
EcoBoost, which features a traditional cylinder engine reworked to produce more power, whilst getting rid of excess weight and taking up less room than a traditional engine. And fears that this would mean the 1.0 EcoBoost wouldn't deliver on power have been quickly assuaged. The Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost performs like a 1.6, weighs less and makes less noise than a Focus. Good pull means more power, and low CO2 emissions means that the 1.0 EcoBoost doesn't require road tax. Good news for greenies, and even better for those looking to save a little money.

On fuel economy, the 1.0 EcoBoost isn't quite as hot as you might prefer, but thirst is more than made up for by the surprising amount of power that is produced by the small engine. In this respect, Ford have taken inspiration from the sportier car models such as Aston Martin, and this feel is carried over into the design of the nose with its huge air intake. However with a top speed of 112 mph, this is where the similarities end. And even though the 1.0 EcoBoost is capable of impressive revs, they come at a high fuel price.

Comfortable Interiors
The Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost is all about comfort, and this is evident throughout the interior. Whilst a little dark, the heated front seats, driver's lumbar support and leather steering wheel go some way towards making up for this.

In addition to the home comforts, the 1.0 EcoBoost also has some handy integrated technological features, such as a USB connection and Auxiliary input socket, which are sure to please those who are after an on-board entertainment experience.

Financing the Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost
Whilst not the cheapest car around, the Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost is pretty reasonably priced at £14,845 (according to Ian Morris). Performance and driveability both support the price tag, as does the on-board technology – a Sony brand stereo and central control unit, DAB radio and SYNC, which supports voice-control and as Bluetooth phone control system.

If you qualify for the Motability Scheme, details of which can be found via Allied Mobility, then the 1.0 EcoBoost may be just the car for you. It's not cheap, but the green incentive and savings on road tax might be enough to make this a car worth investing in, providing you can afford the initial payment. Nippy, powerful in all the right places, and extremely comfortable, the 1.0 Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost is a great vehicle for both daily use and having a bit of fun.
