The McLaren P1 Capable of Displacing 903 BHP

McLaren has revealed that the hybrid power train of the all new P1 will be developing a massive 903 BHP while emitting less than 200 g/km of CO2. The vehicle is powered by a 3.8 liter, 727 BHP displacing V8 motor while a 176 BHP displacing electric motor has been added to the setup to displace the total amount of power. The torque production level of the P1 is 531 ft lb @ 4000 RPM while the engine red lines neat the 7500 RPM mark.

The electric motor displaces 192 ft lb of torque at its peak level and a combined figure of 663 ft lb torque is produced.
The 176 BHP displacement of the electric motor is available instantly via the Power Assist System and it is operated via the wheel mounted steering control measure. The throttle response of a normal engine is available via the electric setup and that is an exceptional measure of this engine.

The engine is a revised version of the M838T, borrowed from the MP4 12C and the electric motor is a new addition. The engine is mated to a dual clutch seven speed automatic transmission system and McLaren claims that the P1 is capable of covering six miles on electric power alone.

The P1 features a 96 kg battery pack which features similar energy density as its petrol driven counterpart. The electric motor needs two hours to gain complete charge and the plug in charger is stored in the car's luggage compartment. The carbon fiber chassis of the P1 holds the battery underneath it. The Formula One inspired Drag Resistance System will be used on the P1 and this is set to enhance performance at corners.

The Drag Reduction System is electronically operated by a button on the steering wheel and this allows the car's wings to reduce the drag coefficient by 23 percent at high speeds. The V8 engine powering the P1 has been designed exclusively with Mobil1 to incorporate the hybrid drive train and the P1 reaches 60 MPH within the 4000 RPM range.

An additional Instant Power Assist System allows an instant blast of power from the electric motor to reach the drive train and this allows added power boost at a given moment. The dual clutch transmission system allows instant negative torque to hit the point of impact and this target the power deficiency every time. This is the most advanced hybrid technology on the face of the planet at the moment and McLaren is quite proud of its creation.

Set to be unveiled next month, the McLaren P1 has been the epitome of performance oriented vehicles and technology since its announcement last year. The engineers have achieved a great feat and exterior wise, this vehicle has been tested in the wind tunnel for hours at a stretch. Aerodynamically, this is the best among road going cars and McLaren claims that the P1 will be the fastest street legal track car till date. Experts believe this is McLaren's take on the Bugatti Veyron.
