The Lexus LC 500 Can't Help But Stand Out
|   Saturday, January 30, 2016
Lexus LC 500 is the production version of the LF-LC concept and also the answer that the Japanese manufacturer gives to those who say that they are only making boring cars.

In 2012, Lexus introduced at the Auto Show in Detroit the LF-LC concept that has received praise from the press and the general public for its stunning design. But nobody thought then that the LF-LC is more than an exercise in style.

However, at the Detroit show opened on January 11, Lexus has produced a surprise when no one expected.
Akio Toyoda himself, President of Toyota Motor Corporation, was the one who revealed the car saying that the LF-LC's transformation into a real model is just the result of listening to the views of the press.
Akio Toyoda says he personally assumed the transformation of the Lexus brand into a car manufacturer with design and character meant to arouse emotion - that can indeed be said about the production version of the LF-LC shown in Detroit, named Lexus LC 500.

But Lexus LC 500 is not just a nice mechanical creature. Under its design is exciting technology that gives impressive performance. The Lexus LC 500 is the first model manufactured on the new platform GA-L, dedicated by the Japanese manufacturer to its luxury models with rear-wheel drive. Lexus engineers' aim was that this platform with rear wheel drive and front engine provide dynamic abilities.

As a result, they located the engine and passenger position as to the center of the chassis and to a position as low as possible to achieve a low center of gravity. To reduce weight the tires use run-flat tech, to give up the spare tire, the battery is moved to the trunk, for balancing the weight between axles. Furthermore, weight distribution between the two axles is almost ideal: 52/48.

To reduce weight, Lexus has built the ceiling and door structure from carbon fiber, made the luggage compartment floor from composite materials and used aluminum in the production of door panels and elements of the suspension. Noteworthy is that the light and strong steel structure of the Lexus LC 500 has a torsional rigidity that exceeds even that of the LFA super sports model.

As an absolute novelty, the world's first V8 engine resources are managed using an automatic transmission, Mindfulness, with 10 steps.
Lexus claims that the automatic transmission is as fast as a dual-clutch unit, but it is more compact and lighter than a conventional gearbox with eight reports. Thanks to a computer which calculates the lateral forces, acceleration and braking, the automatic transmission anticipates much better the driver's intentions.
This technological package allows the coupe to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.5 seconds.

Of course, safety assistive technologies are not missing from any modern premium cars. That is why the LC 500 is equipped with LED headlights and automatic braking systems to avoid collisions and automatic lane keeping systems.

Lexus did not provide pricing information, but said the LC 500 will arrive in showrooms next year. The fact is that attention generated at Detroit makes opening the order lists by the end of this year plausible.
