The Jaguar XF 2.2 L travels from Pretoria to Durban on a single tank of diesel
|   Thursday, July 19, 2012
Jaguar South Africa recently planned a trip, starting from Pretoria to Durban and back on a single tank of diesel. 2 Jaguar XF 2.2s took part in the recently concluded round trip and both used just 4.9 liters per 100 km to make a round trip to the Durban Beach front from Pretoria.

The Jaguars were driven by Marius Roberts, a presenter representing IGNITION GT and Roger Rouessart, the economy run expert and the flag off was done by Richard Carstens of Motor Sports South Africa.

The pair of Jaguars reached the capital city of Pretoria after completing 1,265.8 kilometers on asphalt, on a single tank of fuel. The fuel rating of the cars was 62,351 liters, as observed by Roger Rouessart and 64,461 liters, as observed by Marius Roberts.

The expedition was completed in two days and the results found were quite satisfactory. People travel from Pretoriato Durban on a regular basis and hence Jaguar came up with an innovative idea of comparing the fuel efficiency of the XF 2.2 L with the other cars in the same category.

According to David Barns, the Jaguar Brand Manager, the route from Cape Town to Johannesburg is comparatively easier to travel than the Pretoria to Durban route, as this route has many toll booths and hence more pit stops. Hence, more fuel is consumed, but the jaguar XF 2.2 liter performed comparatively better than the other cars in the class.

The Jaguar XF 2.2 liter is a practical choice due to its affordability, mileage and performance in both highways and city roads. The driving style chosen by the expert drivers Roger Rouessart and Marius Roberts is simple driving and any one can follow in their footsteps as there is no special skill involved. This is proven by the fuel rating obtained by both the drivers, 5.1 liter per 1oo km by Roberts and 4.9 liter per 100 km by Rouessart.

The famed 2.2 liter engine used in the Jaguar XF displaces 140 kW and 450 Nm of torque and accelerates to 100 km/h in a meager 8.5 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h. Both the Jaguars were simple urban lifestyle machinery and did not feature any aftermarket parts and these can be used extensively for commuting in the city.

The aim of the tour was to demonstrate the performance, mileage and ability of the Jaguar XF 2.2 liter and hence, modification was not an option. The main objective of the demonstration was to indicate the usability of Jaguar cars for normal lifestyles and this was highly successful.

Jaguar has been developing high performance cars for nearly eight decades and the XF 2.2 liter is a new kid on the block. This car has all the luxury features that fans would expect from a Jaguar and it does not disappoint.

Performance wise the car has quick acceleration and the car feels stable in lower revs as well as offers smooth ride quality in higher rpm. The XF 2.2 liter is a car to reckon with and sales are expected to go up after this successful demonstration.
