The Guangzhou Auto Show has a shot of vehicles on offer in the Chinese market
|   Sunday, November 25, 2012
The Guangzhou Auto Show holds its own among the biggies like the Shanghai or the Beijing Motor Show. Although the event does not showcase any major vehicles to be launched or the car making giants, it still has its importance due to a few reasons. At the ongoing Guangzhou Auto Show, Japanese car makers were quite popular solely due to the reason that the vehicles will be up for sale in China quite soon.

The Chinese market is quite critical to Japanese products and the sale of Japanese products in China has fallen by 50 percent.
The new vehicles are however looking to change all that quite soon. Guangzhou is like a back yard for Japanese car makers and Guangzhou Auto is currently in a partnership with the Japanese car makers Honda and Toyota, with Nissan based in the next district. Therefore, the Guangzhou Auto Show is quite an important event for all Japanese car makers.

All the three big players have been trying to increase their sales in the Chinese market and that is their underlying strategy behind every scheme on offer. Chine player MG, launched the all new MG6 in the Chinese market and this vehicle has been gladly welcomed into the market. The MG6 Diesel has been showcased at the Guangzhou Auto Show recently and the vehicle has been tagged the MG6 DESL in the local market.

Electric vehicles were also showcased and the first one to be revealed was the Roewe E50. This is the first electric vehicle from SAIC and the company is expected to launch this vehicle on a mass scale late 2013. On full battery, the vehicle is expected to run 118 km without the need for recharge and the battery can be charged to 80 percent capacity in just 30 minutes. However, a complete charge will take up to six hours.

The vehicle has been priced 23,000 Pounds and can reach speeds of 60 MPH in 14 seconds flat. This is amazing considering the fact that this is an electric vehicle. Peugeot has also showcased the 207 at the Guangzhou Auto Show. However, this is not the actual 207 but the 206 grafted to represent the 207 only from the exterior.

An all new 208 is expected to hit the market fall 2013 and Peugeot is yet to confirm the news. The 207 has to be dealt with till that happens. Citroen and Peugeot have been regular players in the Chinese market and the country has been quite generous to them. However, these companies do not have a lot of models on offer and that is their only down side. The Chinese market has the need for low shifting petrol vehicles in Citroen and Peugeot usually have sports cars or diesel units on offer.

Ford is however enjoying its stay in the Chinese market with the launch of the all new Fiesta and the Mondeo. Ford is being regarded as the People's Aston Martin in China and the vehicles on offer are ranged across a wide segment.
