The First Jeep Cherokee from the Chrysler Fiat Partnership Set to be Revealed
|   Sunday, March 24, 2013
The first ever Jeep to be born out of the Chrysler Fiat lineup is all set to be revealed at the New York Motor Show. This is the first Jeep Cherokee to make its public debut this year and the first images of the vehicle have been showcased officially to the public. The vehicle has received a major face lift which is evident from the image. However, details of the interior or specifications have not been made public.

The Cherokee name makes its formal return to the Jeep lineup for the first time since 2001 and the new Cherokee is expected to replace the Jeep Liberty.
Confirmed reports about the specifications of the vehicle are spreading prior to the New York Motor Show and this vehicle is expected to rival the upcoming Land Rover Free Lander.

Chrysler Fiat claims that the Jeep Cherokee will return 45 percent more fuel than its predecessor and this could mean the best fuel efficiency in the segment as of date. The Jeep Cherokee will feature off road capability and Chrysler Fiat has introduced their Trail Rated functionality on the Cherokee. The Cherokee is based on the Chrysler Fiat Wide Compact Platform and this means better handling with more boot space.

The Jeep Cherokee could be compared efficiently to the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the architecture is similar to that of the Dodge Dart. Chrysler Fiat has made huge technological innovations on this vehicle and this works well towards the final performance of the vehicle. The Jeep Cherokee is expected to feature the latest nine speed ZF automatic transmission system and this could be enhanced performance on a whole.

The vehicle will feature multiple engine options such as a 2.0 liter Tiger shark engine lifted off the Dart as well as a 1.4 liter turbo charged Multi Air engine which will be the class leader in terms of fuel efficiency. A 3.2 liter diesel V6 is also on the cards although it is not scheduled to be available in Europe. A JTDm turbo charged 2.0 liter petrol engine is also on the cards and this is expected to be lifted directly off the Giulietta.

The specifications and interior details have not been revealed although new upholstery is expected on the Jeep Cherokee. The panels and materials used will be of better quality than the current model although these are the rumored specifications regarding the interior. On the exterior front, the seven bar Jeep grille remain although the design has been enhanced. The vehicle looks slimmer along with a new head lamp design and this is a viable design on the overall front.

Fiat plans on rolling out this vehicle quite soon and the first batch could be available in showrooms across the world fall 2015. Although a specific launch date has not been finalized, Chrysler Fiat is hopeful of a successful design quite soon. The hype in the market is on a rise and the new Jeep Cherokee could be the platform on which next generation models rest.
