The First Jaguar SUV To Attack BMW X3 And Mercedes GLC

Jaguar has officially introduced its first SUV in the range called F-Pace at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

In fact, the model is the production version of the C-X17 concept, presented at the 2013 edition of IAA. F-Pace is built on an aluminum platform called iQAl that is used on the Jaguar XE compact sedan. Furthermore, F-Pace shall be manufactured in the plant from Solihull, together with the Jaguar XE. Designers have changed a few decorative elements on doors, changed the bumpers and front of the body, and that about sums of the differences between the concept and what we have now.


The serial version is shorter than the prototype, but is taller and wider. The size is 4,731 mm length, width 2,175 mm, height 1,667 mm. Wheelbase size is 2,874 mm.
Jaguar has already designated the new F-Pace's competitors. Porsche Macan is the main rival, as well as the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. The British crossover is not too far ahead of its rivals in terms of size and due to an improved chassis total weight for the standard version (2.0-liter diesel engine and manual gearbox with six reports) is 1,665 kilograms. Ground clearance is 213 mm. The luggage compartment volume is 650 liters, and by folding rear seats it increases to 1740 liters.

The base engine is a 2.0 liter diesel, from the Ingenium family, which generates 180 hp and 430 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h (0 to 60 mph), is achieved in 8.7 seconds. The fuel consumption declared by automaker in combined regime is 5.3 liters / 100 km.

The top version based on diesel fuel will be an 3.0-liter V6 turbo with 300 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. Aided by a four-wheel drive the model, in this configuration, browses through the first hundred kilometers in 6.2 seconds. The fuel consumption is 6 liters / 100 km.

The petrol engines range is complemented by a 3.0-liter V6 engine. The first has 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque, which enables the crossover to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h (0 to 60 mph) in 5.8 seconds and has a combined fuel consumption of 8.9 liters. The second engine is the most powerful version with 380 horsepower, turbocharged, offering 450 Nm maximum torque. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.5 seconds and sees combined fuel consumption of 8.9 liters.

The wheel drive system is called Intelligent Driveline Dynamics and was applied for the first time on F-Type coupe. It is able to distribute torque between axles in a ratio of 50:50.

The sales start will be given in spring 2016. The model will be available in the Pure, Prestige, Portfolio, R-Sport and S ranges, but for starters, those of Jaguars will create an edition called F-Peace First Edition devoted to the premiere of the new model. The limited edition will include 2,000 cars which will be colored Cesium Blue and will have 22 inch wheels and a top engine with 380 horsepower.
