The Fastest Trains in the World
|   Monday, August 28, 2017
Ok, they aren't cars, but trains are just as cool, if not more so, therefore we will be looking at some of the fastest trains in the world!

1. Shanghai Maglev: 430 km/h
The fastest train in the world is not the newest, the brightest, or the most expensive. For 8 dollars per person, the Maglev travels nearly 30 km from Shanghai Pudong International Airport to Longyang Subway Station, near Shanghai, writes cntraveler.com.
The train does not reach the city center, and the journey takes about 7 minutes.
This train launched in 2004 and uses magnetic levitation to move.

2. Harmony CRH380A: 380 km/h
The Harmony Train in China is the fastest non-magnetic passenger train in the world and binds Shanghai to Nanjing since 2010. Now it has received additional routes from Hangzhou and Wuhan to Guangzhou.

3. Trenitalia Frecciarossa 1000: 354 km/h
Italy's red arrow is the fastest train in Europe, able to carry passengers from Milan to Florence or Rome in less than three hours. Presented during the 2015 Expo in Milan, the train is remarkable both for its speed and construction: the components are almost 100 percent recyclable.

4. Renfe AVE: 350 km/h
The fastest train in Spain is Velaro E developed by Siemens and is used for long distance services to the main Spanish cities, but also branches out: the Barcelona-Paris trip can now be made by rail in 6 hours.

5. ICE Deutsche Bahn: 330 km/h
Similar to the Renfe AVE train in Spain, the fastest train in Germany is another Siemens model, Velaro D, and was built to fit through the Channel Tunnel. This is important because Deutsche Bahn hopes to operate these trains from Frankfurt to London in the future.

6. Eurostar e320 and TGV: 320 km/h
Both trains, the TGV and the Eurostar e320, are on the 6th place, but the latter is the one that takes the titles this year. New Eurostar trains can take about two hours between Brussels, Paris and London. Trains reach the city center and a trip costs 70 dollars.

7. Hayabusa Shinkansen E5: 320 km/h
The Hayabusa Shinkansen E5 Series is one of Japan's newest bullet trains and has, to date, the fastest-selling commercial service that runs from Tokyo to Shin-Aomori and Honshu. In March this year a new route, allowing the train to continue north to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto on Hokkaido, was inaugurated, but at a lower average speed of 257 km/h.

8. Thalys: 300 km/h
Connecting Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris and Cologne with multiple daily services, Thalys is one of the most important railway lines in Europe both for leisure and for business trips.

9. Hokuriku Shinkansen E7: 260 km/h
Tickets at the inaugural opening of this train in March 2015 were sold in 25 seconds and it comes as no surprise if you think the first trip was from Tokyo to Toyama and Kanazawa over the “Japanese Alps” in the other part of the country, while travel time was reduced to 2 hours, from 4 hours with a connection.

10. Amtrak Acela Express: 240 km/h
Its network is limited to the high-speed rail of the Northeast corridor connecting Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC. In one direction, travel time is about 7 hours.
By 2020, the West Coast will have a fast train that will reach 350 km/h and will travel in 2 hours and 40 minutes the distance between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
