The Cadillac CTS - The New Generation Was Officially Unveiled
|   Sunday, March 31, 2013
Cadillac launches the third generation of the CTS at the New York Auto Show (March 29 to April 7, 2013). The American manufacturer relies on a completely revised model, developed on a new platform, able to stand up to its German rivals. According to officials, the new CTS will grow in size and will be positioned within the E segment, along with traditional big names like Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series.

In order to attract the customers of the Germans, which dominates even in the United States market the folks from the Cadillac rely on a design that is completely new, more aggressive, but in tone with the philosophy already present on the all models in the range.
The optical blocks impress with the sharp lines and the series of LED lights that go down to the level of projectors.

The LED lighting technology has been also used in the rear. There, the Art & Science design philosophy specific to the Cadillac models, continues with vertical taillights with a V-shaped chrome and the LED mentioned already. The front side shall keep an aggressive line thanks to the better contoured hood, with precise and pronounced lines that go down to the front grille.

"The new Cadillac twin turbo brings a new dimension of technologically advanced performance to the all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan," said David Leone, chief engineer, in a statement for Detroit News. "Delivering power and sophistication, it marks another large step forward in the product-driven expansion of Cadillac."

The Cadillac twin-Turbo V6, is the densest six-cylinder engine of the middle class in the luxury segment, a 3.6 liter unit developing 118 hp per liter and an 8-speed automatic transmission improves the fuel consumption and the accelerations compared to the 6-speed automatic transmission.

A few centimeters longer than its predecessor, the new the Cadillac CTS needs a more powerful range of engines. The absolute novelty will be the 3.6-liter supercharged V6 engine of a new generation. This has been announced by General Motors since the beginning of the month. The engine develops 420 horsepower and a torque of 583 Nm. It is enough for a sprint from 0 to 100 km in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 274 km / h.

With 313 kW/420 hp certified power and a torque of 583 Nm, the new twin-turbo V6 is the most powerful engine ever built by General Motors. The unit is also 15% more powerful than the 3.0-liter six-cylinder in the BMW 535i, with 223 kW/300 hp certificate, and even than the 4.4-liter V8 in the BMW 550i, which develops 400 hp, according to the Cadillac communiqué.

But, the United States producer make the comparisons only with the BMW engine, with naturally aspirated, forgetting, for example, that the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 has a version developing 560 horses in the BMW M5 and M6.
The twin-Turbo Cadillac will expand the range of luxury starting this fall in the United States.
