The Buick Regal GS undergoes performance upgrade
|   Tuesday, July 17, 2012
Buick has recently upgraded the Regal GS with all the performance and luxury parts which has defined Buick vehicles in the past, hence making the Regal GS its flagship model in the market.

Buick has introduced the new High Performance Strut system in the Regal GS, hence combining the best parts available to manufacture the GS. The High Performance Strut or simple the HiPer Strut system enables better handling of the car by separating the front suspension, the steering and the shock absorbers by the help of added parts which allow the steering knuckle to function independently.

This helps in maintaining an ideal suspension and hence reduces torque by a considerable margin which improves camber control. Basically this helps reduce torque steer – the feeling that the car is being pulled to another side by torque formation - by a considerable margin, hence improving handling.

Steering has been improved by a considerable margin and the car has all the features of a four wheel drive vehicle, without the additional weight of a four wheel drive system. HiPer Strut technology has showcased the optimum performance of a front wheel drive car.

Under the hood is a four-cylinder, oil cooled, and turbo charged HiPer Strut engine, producing the highest torque per liter performance in the class. This is also the best ever performance from any General Motor car.

The car produces a massive 135 horse power per liter and this is the most horse power dense car to have been approved by the Society of the Automobile Engineers. The Spark ignition and direct injection technology of the Buick and the variable valve timing, saves a lot of fuel, which is very necessary considering the massive engine and the excess weight of the car.

Computer controls and the Electronic Control Unit play an important part in powering the Buick when it needs the maximum power. The Regal GS has a functionality switch which allows it to switch between different power modes.

The GS has a GS and a Sport button which adjusts the different transmission, suspension and steering characteristics of the car. The Sport mode is a little stiffer than the GS mode and this makes cornering quite easy.

The ECU calculates the road condition per second while the car is moving and automatically adjusts the suspension and the transmission to suit the type of road. The six speed automatic transmission performs quite well and shifts power to the optimum gear when needed.

The manual version of the Buick Regal GS comes with a Hill Climb Assist technology. This technology automatically activates the brake when the car is in uneven surfaces, hence reducing the chances of an accident.
The manual version of the car comes with a shifting assist technology which points out the optimum time for a gear shift. This helps the driver gain maximum power output when the engine requires and hence, assists in better performance.

The Regal is undoubtedly the best Buick ever and also lives up to the expectations of a General Motors vehicle.
