The Bertone Jet 2+2 Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show
|   Tuesday, March 12, 2013
A Shooting Brake version of the Aston Martin Rapide has been designed and built by Bertone – a design and coach building firm. The vehicle is known as the Bertone Jet 2 + 2 and has been designed exclusively to be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show this week. This is a pure one off creation and highlights the Bertone Officina. Bertone is known to design vehicles exclusively for the people who are ready to shell out the required amount.

However, the Jet 2 + 2 has been designed keeping in mind the concept Jet 2 showcased back in 2004.
The vehicle has been designed exclusively and features the clearance of Aston Martin collector Gaydon's firm prior to its official launch. The Bertone Jet 2 + 2 retains most of the vital mechanicals of the Aston Martin Rapide and the engine has also been carried over.

The 5.9 liter V12 engine displaces 470 BHP and is more powerful than the one off engine found on the Rapide S which makes its debut simultaneously at Geneva this week. The major challenge which Bertone needed to face was the Shooting Brake body extension. The sleek design on the original Rapide had to be retained while giving this vehicle a smart new edge over the original creation.

Bertone has been fairly successful in this regard. The C Pillars have been molded and they fall forward to outstretch the body panels. The sleek and elegant shape of the body is what makes this Bertone one in a million. An LED strip has been exclusively added up front which enhances the overall visual aesthetics of the vehicle. The rear end has been pushed back and this makes the cuts prominent.

The ride is pretty balanced while the dynamic impulse is an integral part of the car's overall design. The Aston Martin Rapide is already a very potent machine and Bertone did not have to alter much of the basic ergonomics of the vehicle to design the Jet 2 + 2. This is a traditional Shooting Brake with two doors and stretched out body structure.

Bertone has paid minor attention to details and that is the most appealing part of the Jet 2 + 2. Aston Martins are manufactured with great interest and Bertone has done its share to maintain the exclusivity of the vehicle. British vehicles are exclusive works of art and great precision and calculation goes behind every single vehicle designed. The Jet 2 + 2 is a good example of perfect British engineering.

The interior room has been increased and this gives more passenger space. The driver's seat placed is quite high considering the overall dimensions of the vehicle and this makes the driver's task quite laid out. Special wood, aluminum and fine leather have been used on the interior while cheap parts have been carefully done away with. The cabin looks like a carefully knit suit while handmade interior and exterior parts are available for a selected group of customers ready to purchase the vehicle.
