The American Rival To The BMW M5 Revealed - Cadillac CTS-V
|   Monday, January 05, 2015
Cadillac has officially introduced its new weapon against German models like the BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 AMG. The American's answer is the new CTS-V generation equipped with an impressive V8 engine.

Detroit Auto Show will mark the return of Cadillac in the high performance sedan segment, where the Mercedes E63 AMG and BMW M5 are already working successfully. The American's Cadillac CTS-V was already disclosed and will make its official public appearance next month.

The model benefits from a number of important aesthetic changes designed to increase aggression and suggest what is hidden under the hood. The front part has become more aggressive with a completely new grille, larger air intakes, with an extension to the front bumper, plus LED daytime running lights.
The aerodynamic kit includes ventilation hood, larger bosses, side skirts new rear spoiler, four exhaust pipes and aluminum 19-inch wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

For those who want more than that, there is another aesthetic kit named Carbon Fiber and offers, as the name suggests, more aggressive accessories made of carbon fiber.

For the interior, the Americans have chosen to suggest the sporting spirit with very fine special leather, sports seats with carbon fiber inserts, 12.3-inch board instrumentation, and a system that records the sporty car's parameters called Performance Data Recorder. The generous equipment includes the CUE infotainment system, but also a audio performance system from Bose.

Now for the more interesting bits in such a car: power resources. Under the hood of the new generation CTS-V, Cadillac has installed a supercharged V8 engine capable of producing 640 horsepower and a torque of 855 Nm. It is much more than what the BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 AMG have to give. This is the reason why the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h is achieved in 3.7 seconds.

Aided by an 8-speed automatic transmission, the V8 engine benefits from launch-control so that it effectively puts the 855 Nm on the asphalt. Maximum speed stops at 322 km / h.
To be able to cope with this impressive power, the new Cadillac CTS-V received a 25 percent stiffened body by adding new components. There are also sports suspension, improved steering, an electronic limited-slip rear differential, and Magnetic Ride Control system, able to adjust the road holding in real time, depending on the condition of the asphalt. To stop the sedan, Cadillac uses a set of Brembo brakes.

"V-Series represents the very best of the Cadillac brand – the pinnacle of our design and technical capabilities. The new CTS-V is the most compelling example of Cadillac's product substance and brand trajectory. The new CTS-V soars into the stratosphere of the most exhilarating luxury cars" said Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac president.

Cadillac has been a leading luxury auto brand since 1902. Today Cadillac is rapidly growing on a global level, driven by an ever expanding product portfolio that includes cutting-edge design and the latest technology.
