The all new Lotus Elise is worth the money
|   Monday, November 12, 2012
The latest generation of the Lotus Elise has been launched and this vehicle looks no different than the previous generation of the vehicle. The basic structure of the Elise is strong and unique and this vehicle features an indigenous design. The chassis is made of welded aluminum and hence it is light weight but extremely stout.

The double wish bound suspension on the front and rear end of the vehicle makes the vehicle easy to handle and the Elise is among a new breed of vehicles with a new electronic steering system with ABS installed brakes.
The roof of the Elise is easy to mount and is light weight and this reduces the overall weight of the car.

Lotus produces a clam shaft based exterior designing and this gives it the unique front end look that is normally found on an Elise. The daytime running lights along with the new front bumper and grille have a mesh fill in and the vertical rear end light panels go well with the design. The chrome panels on the Elise lend a unique appeal to the vehicle and the bumper size makes the vehicle look quite aggressive and lends a mean look to the vehicle.

The 1.6 liter petrol engine on the Elise accelerates the vehicle to 60 MPH from 0 MPH in 6.7 seconds and this is considerably fast considering the engine capacity. Other vehicles in this segment are slower and the light weight structure of the Elise is the major reason for this acceleration. The vehicle feels the fastest in second gear and the vehicle springs up to 70 MPH in second gear.

A BMW Z4 accelerates to 60 MPH from 0 MPH in 6.6 seconds and considering the price difference of the vehicles, the Elise is a practical choice. The Lotus does not feature the quality German engineering that the BMW has and is not very flexible as well but on the overall front the Elise is cheaper and more pocket friendly than either the Z4 or the Mazda MX5. The Elise S is a performance oriented vehicle and it zooms past 60 MPH from a standstill in 4.6 seconds.

Lotus has done a commendable job designing the vehicles and this car has the ability to compete with the premium segment vehicles in speed and designing such as the Porsche Boxter S, Nissan 370 Z Roadster, the Nissan GTR and the BMW Z4 sDrive 28i. The Elise is all about the driver and his driving skills and it is a great vehicle to drive.

Maximum torque output is obtained in the 5000 RPM zone and at the fourth gear the vehicle feels quite fast and is visibly so. Shifting is easy and the transmission feels smooth and refined at all times. Handling is a breeze and this is the major reason for the popularity of the vehicle. Rapid shifting can be possible on the Elise, although it needs an experienced hand and with the launch of the Elise, Lotus has created a new segment in performance sports.
