Tesla Improved P85D Performance By 10 Percent

Tesla offers a performance upgrade for the most powerful version of its electric sedan, the Model S P85D. The Americans offer new way of running both for new models and for cars already purchased.

Tesla has announced an update in the Model S range, along with news on upcoming models. The US electric car manufacturer has officially confirmed the onset of a new Roadster convertible generation.

Until the onset of this release the Americans from Tesla provide for existing and future customers of the Model S P85D, the most powerful electric sedan in the world, a some new goodies.

Thus, the time required to reach the speed by 100 km/h (0 to 60 mph) decreased, and power batteries would allow the driver to travel 480 km in place of 460 km. Improved dynamic performance, resulting from the fuse replacement in the electrical standard battery with one electronic type. In this way, the amount of current in the two electric motors increased from 1300 Amperes to 1500 Amperes. The secret behind the performance is a change in the structure of the batteries, which use now "inconel" a superalloy from the aerospace industry besides the aforementioned updating of the fuse internally.

This is called "ludicrous" and is available as an optional extra costing 10,000 dollars at the time of purchase, or 5,000 dollars plus installation for customers who already have a P85D.

Tesla P85D was the fastest version of the Model S and was presented last autumn. The sedan has a total power of 700 hp and top speed is limited to 250 km per hour.
So far the Model S was built in these configurations: 70, 70D, 85, 85D, P85, P85D, 90, 90D, P90D, and P90D with "ludicrous" mode. The latest model costs 87,500 dollars and for this money gives the customer 772 horsepower.

That mode enhances acceleration performance by 10 percent. The Americans have announced an acceleration time from 0 to 96 km/h (0 to 60 mph) of only 2.8 seconds, 0.1 seconds less than that of a Koenigsegg Agera R.

In "ludicrous" mode, the Tesla Model S P85D accelerates to 1.1 G force, acceleration force equal to that perceived by the human body when it falls. Moreover, Tesla announced that the acceleration from 0 to 250 km / h (155 mph), the electronically limited top speed of the car, has decreased by 20 percent due to upgrade.
According to Elon Musk, Chairman of Tesla Motors, the P85D ludicrous mode behaves as the insane mode at speeds up to 50 km/h, then the difference between the two modes is perceived. The limitation is imposed by those of Tesla in order to benefit from the maximum available tire grip.

Ludicrous running mode will be available on the future Tesla Model X too. In this case, the time from 0 to 96 km/h, will be 3.3 seconds, just 0.1 seconds apart from a McLaren F1. The first deliveries of the new Model X will start in September this year. Within two years, those at Tesla promise to launch the Model 3, a mid-range electric car. In addition, the American manufacturer has officially confirmed a successor to the Roadster, which will be built on a technical platform of their own creation.
Meanwhile, the Tesla Supercharger (private charging stations network) expands into Europe too.
