Tesla Announces New Model S P100D Version - Fastest Series Car In The World
|   Sunday, September 18, 2016
With just 2.5 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 km/h), the Tesla Model S it is the fastest production model in the world. That's because the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder, the only models with better acceleration, are produced in limited numbers.

For some time, Tesla Motors managed to produce electric cars that attract customers, convinced that the new electric car manages to eliminate harmful emissions and bring peak performance.
Now the American company continues to develop versions dedicated to those who want either greater range autonomy or better performance in a straight line.

Tesla experts say that the new versions P100D available on the Model S and Model X represents an unbeatable offer, in terms of the distance that can be covered with an electric car and acceleration.

According to official figures presented by the Americans the Model S manages 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 km/h) in just 2.5 seconds, surpassing in this respect absolutely all of the series cars in the world. Notable exceptions are the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder, limited series cars which cost over 700,000 euros, being accessible only to loyal customers of those brands.

In the case of the Model X the upgrade makes this model the fastest SUV on the market, surpassing the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S: 2.9 seconds for the 0 to 96 km/h (0 to 60 mph).

Underlying these figures is a new pack of batteries with a total capacity of 100 kWh. Thus, the Model S and Model X are the first electric series cars which benefit from such technology. Obviously, with this occasion it increases the range which now reaches 613 km in the case of Model S and 542 kilometers in the case of Model X.

However, the customers will have to choose between top performance or extended range, with different running modes available on both models, favoring either mileage or performance, depending on the needs and wishes of the driver.
The new Tesla Model S P100D price starts from 134,500 dollars, and the Model X 100D will start at 135,500 dollars. According to Tesla Motors, part of the high price for the new Tesla Model S P100D will go for putting into production of the affordable Tesla Model 3 model, which will cost 35,000 dollars.
We know that Tesla Motors customers, who previously subscribed to a Model S or Model X prior peak version, P90D, can be upgraded to the 100 kWh versions for the amount of 20,000 dollars.

In the event that the order has not yet been delivered, the cost of change is only 10,000 dollars, because it does not include the price of the battery pack recycling.
The production numbers will be “quite low because of the challenge of making such a complex pack”, said Musk.
“It is a very expensive car,” he continued, “but it is important to bear in mind that this is what is paying for the Model 3" both in terms of cash flow, and in terms of research and development. The Model 3 is a smaller, more affordable electric car currently in development. “
