Suzuki Launches SX4 Cross 1.6 DDiS Allgrip on British Soil
|   Thursday, October 03, 2013
Suzuki just launched the latest version of its SX 4 sedan in the United Kingdom. Even though it is an SX 4 Cross, Suzuki claims that its prefix is a bit too naïve for a vehicle in the British market. Suzuki expects this vehicle to do well in a class dominated by sedans such as Nissan's Qashqai, Peugeot's 3008 and Kia's Sportage. Competition will be tough while the flavor is set to sizzle.

Suzuki is cheap yet reliable and hence it has an edge in class.
However, when it comes to the Brits, performance is not that amusing as compared to luxury, comfort and practicality. Hence, Suzuki has been patient and careful enough to give their SX 4 a few technical modifications which make this vehicle smooth, rev friendly yet fuel efficient. The interior may feel like plastic but this is a sacrifice one has to make for keeping the cost in check.

Suzuki has however outdone itself with this vehicle, which is clearly a class leading sedan for this price. Priced at £23,500, this vehicle is a one of a kind diesel powered vehicle with high levels of refinement. It is close to £2,000 cheaper than Nissan's Qashqai, hence the rivalry in the Japanese segment can be well determined.

This is also the first vehicle where Nissan is offering satellite navigation, DAB radio, cruise control, parking cameras and other high end equipment as standard, even for the base model. This is worth every penny in a financially difficult time such as this. Hence, customers are expected to prefer the SX 4, even since it has a decent reputation for being a smooth vehicle in other parts of the world as well.

This vehicle is quite low cross in class although its driving position has been increased on order to give its driver a better view. Ride height has been chopped off by a few centimeters to enhance stability and ride dynamics. These are its necessary modifications while external and internal styling has also been worked upon. The SX 4 Cross truly is a beauty worth your time, attention and money.

A drive test was conducted recently and this proved to be quite successful in every sphere. While acceleration is decent, this car reaches 0 – 60 MPH within 13.2 seconds while sporting a top speed of 108 MPH. It returns 64.2 MPG while emitting 114 g/km of CO2. It is powered by a 1.6 liter diesel engine borrowed from Fiat, which sounds great due to its smooth exhaust note. Unlike the American's need for rough and loud exhaust notes, the Brits like it smooth, yet fast. This is what Suzuki strived to achieve with their SX 4 Cross.

Interior space is quite high while luggage capacity is huge. However, at this price point, what this vehicle has on offer is more than just satisfactory. Suzuki managed to abide by every rule set down by NCAP and this is great news as the car is safe, efficient and has decent performance figures. It should be quite popular on British roads, even though a specific launch date is yet to be given.
