Suzuki Could Build A Competitor To The Juke in Hungary

The future Suzuki S-Cross could get a little brother, according to the British from Autocar. It will be the replacement for the SX4, and it attack the segment inaugurated by the Nissan Juke.

Suzuki is preparing a new model offensive and among these is a competitor to the Nissan Juke, say the British from Autocar. The new model will substitute the current SX4, scheduled to leave the production lines in March of 2014 and the crossover will be built at the Suzuki plant in Hungary.
The new model will complement the offer of other SUVs from Suzuki, which will receive in the fall a model named SX4 S-Cross, a compact crossover intended to follow in the footsteps of the Nissan Qashqai.

For the moment, there is no clear information about the new B-segment SUV. The model could use a shortened version of the platform that underpins the new SX4 S-Cross. Engines are likely to mirror the S-Cross, with 1.6 petrol and diesels along with the option of front- and all-wheel drive, and manual and automatic transmissions. However, those from Autocar say that the new crossover of the Japanese company will bring numerous customization options for the outside, a premiere for the Suzuki range. The customization options might not stop just on the outside, the model being able to rely on interior customization as well, allowing an increased profit for the Japanese company.

Suzuki is preparing a B-segment MPV, which will compete with the Nissan Note and Toyota Verso, which is designed to complement the Swift range. In the company of the new crossovers, Suzuki will launch the Alto and Splash's substitutes. A planned replacement model for the present Alto and Splash will debut in 2014. It will be built in Thailand, with both models to be gradually phased out next year in order to make way for the new model that's rumored to offer the space of the Splash with the economy of the smaller Alto.

Also, a five-door version of the Swift Sport will launch and will offer all-wheel drive system in the standard Swift, inform the same British publication. Some of these updates will come under the guise of a refresh for those ranges. First on the list will be a new facelifted Swift, which will bring another change in family: availability of two versions, a standard model and a model with accessories that give them a look of off-roader. From the mechanical point of view, the five-door version of the Swift Sport comes without modification.

The Grand Vitara, Jimny and Kizashi will continue featuring in the Suzuki range, unchanged too, although the Jimny will need have to be fitted with ESP if it wants to pass EU legislation.

The Suzuki sales and marketing manager, Dale Wyatt, said the company wanted to reach 30,000 sales in the United Kingdom in 2013. By the end of May, some 14,000 cars were sold, in what is the largest market in Europe for the company.

"40,000 per year may be possible with the new models" said Wyatt, "but beyond that will be hard work and we don't want to make any bold claims. It's about getting things optimized."
