Spy Pictures of Next Generation Audi Q7 Spotted
|   Sunday, October 13, 2013
Next generation Audi Q7 prototype has been spotted testing in Europe and first images of this vehicle was taken when a heavy disguised vehicle from Audi was seen on track. This vehicle maybe a larger version of the current SUV and various external modifications were spotted from over the camouflage. This vehicle is more angular than the last generation vehicle while reports show that Audi plans on unveiling this vehicle by mid 2015.

Even though this is some time off, we expect Audi to design this vehicle based on its last generation Q7.
Engineers claim that they have managed to put the car on a diet and 350 kg have been removed from total weight. This should improve handling quite a bit while putting in new life to this car. It may not be an aerodynamic wonder, but is dynamic enough to be fuel efficient.

Technical specifications are a long way off from being revealed although we know that this car is based on latest MLB platform. This platform will be used to build Porsche's Cayenne and the new SUVs from Bentley and Lamborghini, both of which are expected to be launched in 2016. Engine options should include a range of 3.0 liter to 4.2 liter diesel options, displacing 200 BHP to 340 BHP.

Reports suggest that Audi is considering the use of a diesel electric plug in hybrid along with a standard hybrid option for the Q7, known as Q7 e-tron. Technical specifications and mechanical components are yet to be known even though we expect fuel efficiency and environment friendliness to be primary criterion. Audi has already tried out using a hybrid power train in the current generation Q5 and hence this Q7 should not be much difficult.

Even though Audi is yet to announce final prices, we expect this vehicle to start from approximately £45,000 while high end models should be priced at £65,000. This vehicle can compete against the Volkswagen Toureg, Range Rover and the Mercedes Benz GL class. This should spice up this market segment quite a bit as new launches in SUV class is good news for major markets such as Europe, China and parts of North America.

However, technical specifications on variants should depend upon the area they are sold and this means we will get to see varieties of the same car much often now. Exterior wise, this vehicle looks big and spacious and without the interior having been unveiled we cannot specify on what it may feature. However, final images should be unveiled by January as we expect Audi to showcase the prototype at the Detroit Motor Show 2014.

Huge expectations are lined up on this vehicle and hence it would be a shame if Audi does not keep up to its expectations. Lamborghini's Urus SUV is another hot cake, expected to be unveiled at the same event although we need to see the similarities between these cousins. We will keep you posted on latest developments regarding the next generation Audi Q7.
