Spy Images of the Latest BMW X4 Leaked
|   Tuesday, October 29, 2013
Latest images of the next generation BMW X4 have leaked and the vehicle was spotted testing at an undisclosed location in Germany. These images show the car less camouflaged which raises hopes of an early reveal and launch. This vehicle is based on basic renderings showcased at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year although the extent of these details is yet to be ascertained.

BMW builds its X4 at its Spartanburg factory along with the X3, X5 and X6.
All these vehicles are built on a singular chassis frame although it is high end models are a bit longer than entry level vehicles. The X4 features ground hugging stance while designers have given this vehicle a distinctively styled roof line and sides, while its nose line has been borrowed from its larger cousin, X5.

Insiders have hinted at BMW using similar engine specifications as its X5 on this vehicle as well although formal announcements are yet to be made. While European markets are expected to get a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine variant displacing 242 BHP along with a four cylindered 3.0 liter turbocharged unit displacing 302 BHP, global markets will receive a 184 BHP displacing four-cylindered 2.0 liter engine and a six cylindered 3.0 liter engine displacing 306 BHP.

BMW's X4 is actually a rather scaled down version of its X6 and should be rivaling jaguar Land Rover's Range Rover Evoque and Porsche's Cayenne. We are yet to know detailed specifications of the X4 although rumors of a diesel electric hybrid are doing the rounds. BMW has made quite a few modifications to its new range of SUVS as compared to their predecessors and we expect major handling and performance upgrades coming from them.

SUVs from BMW have conventionally been huge and spacious, their downsides being high CO2 emission and flow fuel efficiency. However with the rise in global crude prices, general populace has been forced to opt for cheaper and efficient fuel options. This has brought about a major change in the way engineers conceive and design vehicles today.

Apart from its technical side, BMW has made quite a few astonishing modifications to the exterior of its X4. Primary among them being its coupe like rear end which makes it look like a hybrid between a coupe and mini SUV. BMW says that this design aspect will increase interior space while the car handles like an overgrown hatch back. Fans and auto enthusiasts are waiting patiently for more news regarding this vehicle. The company is aiming at manufacturing 350,000 units of its X4 by end 2015 and large scale modifications to factories are being made to accommodate this massive change.

BMW is hoping to make its X4 the next best selling model while this vehicle has certain advantages according to insiders, which should favor high sales. Interior trim levels are yet to be decided although we expect premium quality interior standard on this car. Electronic features include standard driver aids although details are yet to be formally unveiled.
